Update to previous review.

This is an update to the review of my first floor bathroom renovation by PRIEST Contracting. After 3 years a tile on the bathroom floor cracked and lifted, since then most of the others have done the same thing so two weeks ago we decided to remove the floor tiles and replace them with vinyl plank. The tiles came up really easily and we found that the Lino the tiles were stuck to was coming loose so we pulled up that as well. To our horror the sub floor was saturated, the whole floor, we spent the afternoon shoveling up saturated sawdust from the bathroom. We took out the toilet and found the problem. When we ordered the toilet I told Priest's supplier that the distance from the back wall to the centre of the drain was 11" but a toilet with a 12" rough in was ordered, when the plumber was installing it I said to him it looked to long and he told me he would make it work, his idea of making it work was to leave all the old rusted fittings in place and put in two wax rings so the toilet never really sat correctly over the drain and every time it was flushed it seeped into the floor. Our only saving grace was that the previous home owner had installed the sub floor over the original sub floor which was also covered in linoleum and at this point it has prevented water from seeping down any further. So along with replacing the tiles we also had to replace the sub floor and buy and install a new toilet with a 10" rough in and all new fittings. I wouldn't trust this company or anyone that works for him to renovate a dog house, oh and if he starts telling you about building codes please check with the city first I wish I had, the old bath we had fitted level with the alcove it was in, the one Priest measured and ordered sits two inches back and when I questioned this he told me it was building code that the bath had to be recessed in the alcove not that it was measured incorrectly and he hadn't factored in the old tub surround. Also I questioned why on the first row of the wall tiles that meet the floor they were only 3/4 tile again he said this was how it had to be done by code. When I did phone the city to question this the inspector laughed at me and said there were no such codes.

Approximate cost of services:
