Bathroom Renovation

Roger Plageman managed our recent bathroom renovation and I would highly recommend Plageman Renovations in a heartbeat!! Roger was clear, honest, accessible and helpful every step of the way. He paid attention to the details, making sure decisions were made as required. The crew were great, and the subtrades all excellent, with timing well managed and work occurring within reasonable timelines. We have an old house which required some structural work and it was completed with care and attention to both safety and quality. We are delighted with the final product, and will use Plageman Renovations again when we're ready to re do our kitchen.

Renovation

I recently employed the services of Plageman Renovations and I was extremely pleased with the quality of their work moving through the process as well as the finished product. Roger Plageman did a complete refinishing of my basement and a substantial amount of work on my main floor. As a Realtor, I have seen the best and the worst of home renovations. I have personally completed renovations on a number of my own homes over the years and Roger is the first contractor I have worked with who I would confidently recommend to my clients, colleagues and friends.

Roger listened to my needs and ideas and skillfully integrated them into the job in a practical and aesthetic manner. I was given a detailed written quote which outlined the scope of the work, costs involved and a realistic time frame, all of which came in on target with the quality of workmanship that Roger is known for. He is both personable and trustworthy as well as being consistently reliable.
I found his professional manner and attention to detail consistent from the beginning to the end of the project. It was an excellent experience throughout and the job was competed on budget and on time.
I will gladly use the services of Roger and his crew for my next renovations and have already recommended them to a number of my clients for their upcoming project.

Living room and kitchen renovation and sunroom

Roger handled two major renovations at our house – the opening up and brightening up of our interior rooms with skylights, partition openings between rooms, new lighting, new walls, ceilings , crown molding and custom made cabinetry. We were so happy with his work and helpful approach that we asked him a bit later to return, this time to handle a partial re-do of our ‘40s style kitchen and to build a brand new sunroom on the back of the house. He vastly improved and modernized the kitchen – with great creativity and patience – as we asked him to retain many elements of the original look and style. As for the sunroom, this was a major project requiring the removal of an exterior wall, work on the house foundation, and new everything. We wanted to do quite a lot in a small space, which was a bit of a design challenge at times, and his patience and support was again exemplary not only with us but with our architect, City inspectors, and the tradespeople involved. We would – and have – recommended Roger to anyone. He’s more than fair to deal with and willing to tell you his honest opinion while respecting yours as well. A terrific carpenter and excellent contractor.

Kitchen renovation

I have the kitchen of my dreams, thanks to Plageman Renovations. Roger Plageman listened to my wishes and contributed ideas that improved my plan for a kitchen, pantry, and laundry room. His tradespeople – cabinetry, plumbing, electrical, tiling – were all top-notch. He brought the project in on time and on budget. I couldn’t be more pleased. Highly recommended.

Rebuild of major Toronto house

“Roger handled the gutting and rebuilding of our house. It was a large job with many trades involved. We had it on a very tight time frame so getting everyone co-ordinated and each task completed required choreography and then real effort.
10 years later, the work still stands up and Roger is still helping us, with a new terrace, french windows and all the ongoing repairs of a big old house. We trust him completely, not only with our property but to do the job right, quickly and at a fair price.”

porch floor and steps, new deck and door opening, skylight, bathroom, new laundry room, and multiple other renovation projects

Plageman Renovations has done a number of projects in my house in the past decade, both large and small. I don't bother getting quotes from anyone else, as I am so happy with the work. Very knowledgeable about the vagaries of old houses, great design work, good fixes to problems we find, excellent quality, and generally a pleasure to work with.

Study Addition.

My wife and I had bought a circa 1959 side split bungalow in a mature neighbourhood. The original owner had built a DIY small sunroom on the side of the home. It was the sunroom that cinched the deal for us in buying the home. Unfortunately for us we never realized that the way the sunroom was constructed, it was a "magnet" for carpenter ants. Hence we needed the sunroom removed and something else to replace it. We searched on the internet for architects and I found and hired a very reputable, local architect. It was through this architect that we met Mr. Plageman. The architect actually gave us 3 contractors to contact and interview. Mr. Plageman was the only one who came across as professional and courteous. We just had a good feeling about him and we hired him to build our addition. The architect designed a 14' x 16' room that was to be our new study. With some input from Mr. Plagemen we ended up with a final design that my wife and I were very pleased with. Throughout the whole construction process, Mr. Plagemen was very straightforward regarding costs and the time frame. He brought in professionals to complete certain aspects of the project that he wasn't qualified to do i.e. electrical, roofing, brick work, etc.

He made some suggestions regarding the design based on his long experience in the industry. However, in the end he always asked for our final decision on any changes and respected those decisions. From the colour of the brick to deciding on the use of siding to the pros and cons of re-roofing the entire house, the final decisions were always with us.

We also had him build us a custom built-in bookcase in the new study. Payments made to Mr. Plagemen were done as parts of the project were completed and he explained his costs to us. Receipts were promptly presented. My wife and I had to just sit back and watch as Mr. Plagemen filed for all the permits and built our addition. We were truly pleased with the outcome of this project.

Bathroom Renovation

Roger knew old houses very well and always could figure how to deal with problems old houses have. I loved the way he could find a way to make things work. His crew was punctual and consistent. Roger and his sub-contractors were a very good team. We feel that we are lucky to find a contractor like him and feel very good in making our future renovation plan knowing we have someone to count on.

Residential

I recently worked with Plageman Renovations on a high-end residential project. As a designer it is extremely important to have a contractor that is easy to work with and understands/respects the overall concept as shown in the construction drawings.

Mr. Plageman not only respected my design, he became a mentor with his knowledge of carpentry which resulted in a final product that exceeded even my expectations.

He is not only a contractor.... He's an artist. Simple as that.

Minor condo renovation

No checklist re finishes so materials had to be replaced - brass instead of nickel, etc. Inferior workmanship - uneven saw cuts, rough edges on new doors, uneven mudding on new drywall. Sawed wood in apartment instead of on balcony and left sawdust all over painter's equipment and freshly painted walls. Materials paid for removed from premises. No attempt to correct situtation despite several calls and e-mails. Have done major renos before and know what to expect - it wasn't this!
