We chose Bildam to build our deck because we were so impressed with Adam's excellent ideas and suggestions and his professional approach and presentation. We were so pleased we chose them as they were wonderful to work with!

The entire team was great, they are true professionals. They were efficient, knowledgeable, organized, friendly and prompt. They finished the deck quickly with a great deal of attention to detail and left the whole area neat and clean.

We are thrilled with how well the deck turned out and know we will enjoy it for many years. We would gladly recommend Bildam to friends, family and neighbours!

We were looking to finish our basement. We finished one large room with a fireplace and built-in shelving, a bathroom and a smaller gym area. What impressed us the most with Bildam was that they were always on time, were very friendly and helpful with suggestions and ideas and that they kept the work site as clean as possible. Adam showed up to our first meeting on time (which other contractors did not!) and with plenty of suggestions for how to finish our space for what we needed. Their quote was comparable to others that we received and when work started, everyone was very friendly and swept the floor each night before leaving. Bill was often on site and everyone kept us involved as to schedules and choices along the way with plenty of time to make decisions. Everyone was very knowledgeable, highly skilled and incredibly helpful. We can’t say enough good things and would happily use them again. We are so pleased with the finished product.

Bildam put in a new deck for us where there had previously never been one. What we liked best about Bildam was the detail in which they quote their services. Adam is EXTREMELY thorough and transparent. They were up front about the start time delays because of the rain and maintained their customers priority sequence. They also completed the work in the time they said they would, did not leave materials behind, were neat and organized throughout the job, and were extremely knowledgeable on codes. There weee literally no surprises. When a lattice didn’t come out the way everyone had planned they made adjustments to make it right without delay or discussion. We have really enjoyed our deck as it’s given us use of a major part of our yard we never used to set foot in. We also have had three other major Reno’s done my three other companies. Bildam was the only one who didn’t bump us for other clients, finishes when they said they would,, were completely transparent and up front about pricing, and didn’t cause any damage while doing the work. I could not recommemd them more highly. They are not most expensive and they are not the cheapest, but they were the best.

From the first email to Adam he was extremely professional and prompt to reply to all my questions. I knew I was looking for a deck but didn't really know what I wanted. Adam spent quality time with us going through different plans and layouts and after a few revisions we had a deck that met all of our criteria.
The entire team was very professional and always left the worksite clean and tidy.

Beautiful cedar deck built by two extremely skilled young guys who worked through horrible wet spring conditions. Their attention to detail was remarkable. They even contoured the bottom to the driveway's uneven surface and built a privacy screen from scratch. Adam designed it, gently suggesting what could be done, and the result was so pleasing, neighbours and passers-by remarked, unsolicited, on the wonderful job. We're enjoying it immensely.
We'd received other quotes and went, not with the cheapest, but with an instinct. Happy to say we were right. Adam and his staff are also very good to work with.

I first met with Adam back in February. I was immediately impressed with his attitude and knowledge of decking products. Bildam's quote was comparable with the others that I had met with.

Through the entire process Adam was my main contact. During the design stage he was very patient with us as we struggled to pick the right colour for our deck. He was also helpful with ideas and recommendations.

During the construction of the deck, the crew was very polite and and left the job site clean everyday. Adam kept me in the loop with updates throughout the construction.

I was highly impressed with Adam and his team, its obvious they strive to deliver a quality product which they clearly did for me. I would recommend Bildam to anyone looking to have a deck done.

We worked with Bildam to finish our basement and do a reno on our kitchen. Everyone was not only professional, but kind and courteous, and always went the extra mile to make sure everything ran as smooth as possible! Both our basement and kitchen look outstanding!

The Bildam guys were great to work with from the start of the quoting process to the last day of the job. It's not fun living through renovating a kitchen but I can honestly say that I enjoyed the process.

We started out with an idea for renovating our kitchen. Adam came in and floated some ideas to us about possibly moving the location of the kitchen to the other side of the house.... it was the best decision I've made in my entire life as a homeowner. Adam provided a vision for us to work with but at the same time listened to all of our feedback and incorporated that into project. The finished result is a kitchen and bathroom that is better then our own initial thoughts on the process.

The work crew were great to work with. We were living at the house the entire time so there were times when we were in each others way but they did a great job of making it work and it is much appreciated. I really appreciate the little things that they did to ensure the quality of the workmanship... things like strengthening the foundation of a raised floor which was not totally in their scope of work but they realized it would affect the quality long term so they fixed it. They made choices like that all along the course of the project. From the flooring and structure to the plumbing they continually made the right choices for the long term quality of the work rather then just the quickest solution. That commitment to quality is something I'll be grateful for for as long as I own my house.

While it's hard to comment specifically on cost in relation to other contractors as things obviously changed throughout the project I will say that they were very competitive with the original price and as we added and subtracted things throughout the process it was all very transparent to us and allowed us to make informed decisions along the way.

The end result is a kitchen and bathroom that make me and my wife extremely happy with it's beauty and the underlying knowledge that the work behind it (ie. plumbing, foundation, walls) will endure the test of time.

Let me start by saying that the deck these guys built is very sturdy. We have zero complaints about how solid it is.

This was not the cheapest quote we received but they promised to work in tandem with a landscaper we hired to do extensive work. They took a ridiculous amount of time to complete each stage. It was very frustrating. Then we were presented with an additional invoice that included hourly rates for a bit of siliconing and hand digging that needed to be done. I was flabbergasted. It wasn't a lot of money but it was the principle.

The quality of a couple of boards that were used were substandard. We were promised by Adam that he would oversee the quality from the beginning (was in our signed contract). We do understand that pressure treated wood will crack. But one of the main rails was severely gouged in a few places as were a few of the others and one of the other boards was completely cracked even before the final screw was put in. They were able to sand out some of the gouges to our satisfaction but the two boards were too badly damaged to be saved. Had we not pointed this out to Adam, they would have been fine to leave it this way but they did eventually replace them.

Our building permit did not pass as a result of a minor design flaw with the stairs and we were told "for an extra fee" they could fix it for us. They were the ones that created the design. It is our contention that they are the experts and filed all papers with the town and they should be responsible for ensuring that it passed inspection. We decided we would fix it ourselves and have been in discussions with the town to ensure that it passes.

Finally, there was no clean up from the post digging. Their excuse was that the landscapers would take care of it but that was very unfair because this was in areas that the landscaper was not even working. Post-winter, the ground is collapsing around the posts as the ground was not compacted.

My summary is that I would not feel comfortable hiring Bildam again even though we still have fencing, gates and some basement renovations that we would like to have done. Like I said at the beginning, we are very satisfied with the sturdy construction of the deck but they need to take a very close look at their customer service practices and their labour crew.

Several years ago I bought a beautiful century home in Oshawa that had a door from the back bedroom on the second floor leading outside, problem was that the original deck from the 20's was no longer there! so anyone walking out the door would have a rude awakening as they would've fell about 14 feet down.
I have extensive experience in renovations myself but I wanted to get someone who would dig and pour the post footing and build the basic frame of the structure and leave me to finish off the decking and railings.
From my experience in the past, most companies would not offer to do half the job, but Adam was great, he really became a time saver for me taking care of the permit paperwork and getting the job done properly and on time, leaving me time to work on other projects inside the house.
I am very happy with the work they did and highly recommend them for any renovations!
