Estate Home Build

The worst part of dealing with Arcuri Homes is the overall poor quality work and lack of customer service. We built an estate home with Arcuri in 2012, and had numerous problems with them. As a previous reviewer mentioned we have also had paint peel from the trim on all of our windows which according to them is normal due to the humidity in the home (they were the ones that setup the humidifier). The results from sanding and repainting the trim were worse than the original peeling. We have also had a problem with the exterior trim and front door paint peeling after the first winter. The kitchen warming drawer was installed poorly so that the housing would move causing the unit to unplug frequently. Which they would not warranty because as they put it “The unit was installed as a courtesy by Arcuri Homes”. Our tiled master ensuite floor needed to be ripped out and replaced by Maguires as the original install used defective mud and the tiles were popping. Luckily we identified the issue before the end of the first year otherwise that cost would have been out of pocket.

We’ve had many other issues as well (Sinkhole in front of house due to improperly setup drainage, Stonework falling off, Silicon Dabs all over the roof when the neighbors roofs are pristine, Leaky shower heads, and faucets handles which are perpetually loose, Exterior faucet which broke after the first year, Granite counter tops that chip when you look at them funny).

We have built more than a few homes, so we are familiar with the usual builder client problems (you didn’t tell us that there would be a bus stop there/you didn’t ask or we didn’t have the final plan until after you bought your lot OR your house size can only be X% of your lot size/then the neighbors end up building whatever they want). Arcuri takes the cake, after working with them I will bring a lawyer to every meeting with our next home builder which sure as heck will NOT BE Arcuri Homes.

Lasting Quality

Arcuri had built my home over 20 years ago and had done so with fantastic quality. My family and I continue to live in this home and are very happy with how it has held up over the years. We are happy to see Arcuri Homes continues to build in our surrounding area - they build a classic home, inside and out!

Don't care about the customer or product quality

We own an Arcuri Semi Estate Home. It has had problems since we moved in late in 2014. Paint was peeling from most of the trim on the main and upstairs windows. The drywall on the stairs has shifted and the tape is now buckling and bulging. I had the roof inspected in anticipation of putting solar panels on the house and learned that 22 shingles didn't even have a single nail in them. Can you believe only tar was holding them down? Cost me $1300 to get it fixed by a trustworthy contractor. Our window wells were never filled with the river rock we were supposed to get. Our hot water tank quit working and had to be replaced about 1.5 years into our home ownership. It had a manufacture date of 2010 so NO WARRANTY and was way too full of calcium deposit to have been brand new when Arcuri installed it. (Be on the lookout for this if you work with these guys on your first walk through. Don't accept the key if it is not from the same year you take possession.)

The carpet began to ripple within 7 months of us moving in. I've owned many new homes before and two older ones and I've never had to get ripples pulled out by "re-kicking" before. Oh and that cost $150 for 'service' Thanks Macquires Floors for your poor quality installation and product. As the ripples are back and worse than ever - my elderly parents trip on them as does my toddler, we will have to redo the carpet. I have a quote for $6700 for equivalent carpet. I've been told by the folks who are replacing the carpet that the carpet product is "separating" and is defective as well as incorrectly installed.

When you call for service, they make promises they don't keep. Sometimes they don't even respond or act like it is your fault. All of the above items are structural in my opinion.

Do yourself a favour and keep on looking for a builder who is a perfectionist and takes his work personally. Avoid ARCURI unless you enjoy headaches.
