The Landscape Artist

In 2020, The Landscape Artist, who we had contacted through their booth at the Calgary Home Show, submitted a plan and cost estimate for the re-landscaping of our yard to require less maintenance. We accepted this, and in June they sent in their demolition, construction and planting crews. The individual crews were excellent, and our only complaint is that communication between crews was less than stellar.

However, the work was completed (with more supervision on my part than I had expected), and in the end was satisfactory. A year later, the promised spring inspection was completed and a few plants replaced. Our yard looks great.

The Landscape Artist was hired to complete a large project at our condominium building, following a competitive selection process. A significant reason for choosing The Landscape Artist was due to their commitment through the process to answer questions and provide advice. They attended a board meeting and addressed concerns and provided samples to help with product selection.

The project was completed on time, despite some challenges that were not part of the scope of work. Whenever one of these challenges occurred, The Landscape Artist staff and management suggested solutions and had a extensive list of contractors that completed work.

The staff was obviously very skilled and experienced, but also went beyond what was expected in terms of daily cleanup and continued access to the building.

We would have no hesitation in recommending The Landscape Artist to others.

We hired them to do our front yard. They did do a good job, but we were disappointed that Peter didn't follow up on how we liked the end product. We now have issues with one of our tree's they planted, and my husband hadn't heard back from them. Now, they have taken care of the tree we were having problems with. They have communicated with my husband and want to make things right.

We can't say enough about this company. Peter and Clayton came up with an excellent design for our backyard where everything has been thought through to the finest detail. They have been very flexible and accommodating with our requests and changes to both schedule and scope. The whole process really has been a two way street which we greatly appreciate. Peter and Clayton know what they're doing and offer great advice on what will, and won't work. The work that the crew does is exemplary and the attention to the smallest detail shows in the final product. The crews on site have been excellent and have had so much influence on our 2 year old daughter, that we've had to get her a toy Bobcat! Although we've only completed the first phase of our complete backyard makeover, we wanted to post this review as we are very, very happy with what has been done so far!

The Landscape Artist was first contracted to create a landscape plan for my new home. The plan was created in a timely fashion and we were so impressed with the professionalism that we elected to hire Peter, Clayton and the Ladscape Artist team to turn the plan into reality for our home. They completed this extensive job and we are extremely satisfied with the result. I would not hesitate to recommend their service. They listened to our wishes and made suggestions to fit within our budget. All work was preformed and completed in a reasonable timeframe with minimal mess and disruption to us or our neighbors.

This is the 2nd time I've used The Landscape Artist to landscape an unfinished backyard. They took care of everything - from design to implementation, we didn't have one issue with the work. They were able to complete the job in 16 days and we couldn't be happier with the results. There was excellent communication throughout the construction phase and after the job was completed.
We now enjoy a beautiful yard that is an extension of our living space to share with family and friends.

We worked with Peter and his team on 2 separate occasions and were thrilled with the work and professionalism both times. Our backyard was completed 2 years ago and included: pavers, cedar fence, irrigation, sod, perennials, trees, shrubs and proper grading. Just this July we again had Peter's team help us with our front yard. This time we had cement work done for a driveway and walkways, irrigation, planting including trees, shrubs, perennials and removal/repaving of new garage pad. Peter provided an initial vision that proved to be the ideal plan for both our yards. He also ensures his team is focused/concentrates on your job to completion to minimize or as in our case, ensure no delays with both yards. Both were completed in a logical and dedicated flow. We had consulted three other landscape companies prior to our selection of the Landscape Artist and didn't find the team approach nor vision that we had with this company. Our backyard was completed in about a week and the front had a similarly dedicated timeline with a brief waiting period but the cement required it. John, the onsite manager, was thoroughly knowledgeable in all aspects of construction and site prep and he does not cut corners. Both yards involved a great deal of preparation including significant grading and it was done right and professionally with minimal impact both time wise and construction wise to our family and neighbours. It was easy to work with Clayton for the design process as he is flexible, accomodating and yet ensures you end up with a fabulous design. We were offered ample opportunity to add/revise the design plan and it was reassuring to have a full colour professional plan so we would be able to envision the landscaping. We were placed in very good hands for all aspects from planning through to hardscape to irrigation to the planting. We were also in good hands with Kelly overseeing the planting as his team ensures everything is placed according to the plan and ensures they are well planted. They work with only the end product as their focus. The number of people on the teams ensures your yard will be done quickly but with care. We trust that both yards will hold up through all of Calgary's weather and as well will provide the wonderful aesthetic of the plantings from spring through winter. This is a team effort where quality and pride are number 1. We would not hesitate to ask them to help us with any future project or to refer them to a friend/family.

We have used The Landscape Artist on two different properties over a 20 year period. Our latest project was to transform our ravine view backyard from the boggy and regularly water saturated uninviting space into a gardeners oasis, complete with fireplace structure and pergola, extensive lawn and garden, lengthy creek with numerous waterfalls and ponds as well as a complete irrigation system. We had Peter and his team do it al from the plans to the planting. Always found the team professional, talented, courteous, respectful and most importantly of all, hard working.
