One of the big drainage companies told us we needed to replace our entire drain tile system. The quote was well over $30000. We called Westside Drainage for a second opinion. Carlo explained why changing the entire system was unnecessary and would likely not lead to a favourable outcome. He explained where the problems were and what repairs were needed. The work was completed in a timely fashion and with high degree professionalism. We highly recommend Carlo and WestSide Drainage.

We had drainage issues (60+ year old house) and two larger companies had a look and told us we needed new drain tiles and quoted 35k+.
We called Westside Drainage and Carlo provided a more thorough inspection (for a fee, which was credited towards the fee when he did the rest of the work) and showed us how our drain tiles were fine and that the issue was much more isolated.
He provided a reasonable quote and delivered the fix promptly and within the budget, and has also been available on short notice to help with other issues.

I called Carlo after I kept smelling a musty smell in the house and in the basement. We had had a mold inspection years ago that came back all clear. But every spring and summer we were still smelling a musty odour in an area in the basement. After talking to Carlo on the phone, he suggested we check out the drain tile as I was suspicious the smell was linked to after we were watering our plants outside. Carlo walked me through the drain tile system we have at our house, used the camera to thoroughly inspect everything and check for blockages. He also ran water tests to ensure our back sump was working. He basically left no stone unturned! When everything checked out ok, he inspected the basement. He came to the conclusion that as we had an older home, they did not put a water proof barrier on the outside of the concrete foundation, which meant that every time we were watering the plants located next to the house, the water was soaking into the concrete which was causing the smell in the basement. Needless to say, we removed all the potted plants by the house and we now no longer have that musty smell in the house! Had we not called Carlo to help us investigate the issue, we would have been causing moisture damage to our house for years to come! Carlo had also inspected our main water shut off (to rule out leaking pipes) and had noticed that it was not configured properly and will be prone to future leaks that could cause major flooding in our basement. Something our home inspector should have caught and told us about 8 years ago when we bought the house! Carlo opened our eyes to the importance of drain tile inspections. If you are buying a new house, you should have the drain tile inspected! And if you currently own a home but have no idea what type of drain system you have, it is well worth the $500 to have peace of mind that everything is in working order and educate yourself on exactly how the drain tile system should be functioning. We had a flooding issue in the basement of our 50+ year old rental property. Originally we called in a large company in the area. After spending over $1000 to diagnose the fact that we needed new drainage tiles, we were quoted $40K+ to replace the drainage tile system around the house. We then called a smaller company but was quoted $25K still to replace the tiles. We were told there was no way around replacing the system.

After reading the reviews on Homestars, I decided to call Carlo for a second opinion. Even though Carlo does not offer a free estimate, it is completely worth the few hundred dollars to ask him to come in and evaluate the situation. Carlo met my husband on site and was immediately able to diagnose the situation and necessary repairs using his camera system. Unlike the other companies, he took the time to walk around our property and explained what needed to be replaced and what could be repaired.

Carlo ended up suggesting repairing our existing system by replacing only a section of the tiles while clearing out the rest of the tiles that could be salvaged. As expected with a 50 year old house, complications came up but Carlo was able to stay close to the original estimate. He kept in touch with us throughout the process, which we appreciated since we were not on site with him as it was a rental home.

The entire project ended up costing us a fraction of what the original company quoted us. I wish we had contacted Carlo from the beginning!

Based on word of mouth and reviews, Westside Drainage was our first choice when we needed to deal with erosion around our driveway drain. Carlo was able to help us in just a day or two. During the heavy rains this winter my basement suite was flooding and Carlo was able to come quickly to assess the situation. He came up with an action plan to identify the problem and thoroughly explained it. He was really busy but was able to squeeze the job in sooner than he had scheduled. While fixing the issue Carlo was very honest and said that he wasn't able to do much with a collapsed tile that was located under my cement staircase unless I wanted to take the stairs out. Instead he came up with a solution to divert the water away from that particular area and saved me a lot of money. I don't normally write reviews but really wanted to in this case. I wouldn't hesitate to call Carlo again or recommend him to anyone in need of help with their drain tiles. Our home was quite a challenge and a frustrating job as the drains were clogged with years of sand/dirt and tree roots. Carlo worked hard to help us get the system working again. I had an issue with my basement walls to be saturated with water. It wasn't an emergency but it already started to create a mold. I called a few companies and Westside Drainage was among them. All the companies were busy saving peoples' flooded basements. I just had to wait few weeks to see anyone and so I did. I booked a few paid assessments. After the assessments, I chose Westside drainage. I picked them because Carlo, the owner, has an experience and he is the one doing the job himself as oppose to other companies which sent me people with none or not much experience. Carlo fixed collapsed parts of the drainage and so far my walls feel dry to touch without opening them to dry.
