Ideal Stairs - stair recapping, stair refinishing and stair renovation in GTA

I can't say enough about Mesh and his team. As evident from other reviews, from the initial contact to the final inspection, Mesh kept me fully informed of progress throughout. His team worked diligently to complete the job and we are very pleased with the results. When he was concerned that refinishing the existing newel posts and spindles would not look good with the rest of the job, he even offered to absorb the cost of the new newel posts and spindles. How many contractors would do that. If you need a stair renovation or hardwood installed, run don't walk to Ideal Stairs and hope that they service your area. You will not be disappointed.

Mesh and his team did excellent work for a fair price. They put down about 1000 square feet of solid hardwood and built brand new stairs (basement and upper) and bannisters. Very high quality of materials and craftsmanship. It shows that they take pride in their work. This job was part of a major reno, we had issues with our other jobs and contractors but in the face of problems, Ideal Stairs provided me with solutions at every turn: they were patient, flexible and got the job done well in a timely fashion. Excellent level of customer service. After we paid in full and the other renos were complete, Ideal Stairs came back to do finishing touch ups. These too were done in a timely way and the work was again very high quality. We had large holes in the floor from radiators that were moved, and asked them to do a quick fix. Instead, they replaced the whole wood panel for a clean and professional finish. Mesh and his crew were a real pleasure to work with. We love our new floors and stairs.

We just had Mesh and his 2 guys in to refinish our golden oak 2 story curved staircase (circa 1992). They did a really nice job, The white risers and dark stained treads turned out really well. They were done in a week - they taped off the area (it STILL gets dusty) but the guys were very hard workers and finished in 6 days. Great job, would highly recommend.

Ideal Stairs refinished our outdated carpeted oak staircase beautifully and installed hardwood on the entire 2nd floor. Raj and his team were professional and friendly, They were always on time, worked diligently on the job, and took pride in their work. Cleanup was daily, and everything was completed on schedule, turnaround time was only 4 days. Thanks Guys, Good Job!

Ideal Stairs just completed the conversion of our carpeted stairs to solid oak from the basement to the second floor including landings and the master bedroom. They also installed laminate in our family room. We were extremely happy with all aspects of their service.

We hired Ideal Stairs after finding them on Home Star. We read some of the reviews and thought we would give them a call. Mesh was great to deal with. He came to see us the next day. We appreciated this as it showed his interest in having our business. Before coming to our house, he phoned and asked some questions about what we were looking for. The job consisted of removing the carpet off our stairs, sanding and staining, replacing the risers, changing the posts and spindles. We were impressed when he showed up prepared with examples of spindles and wood colour as well as the many pictures to show us on his iPad. We received a quote from him pretty quickly as well. We did take some time to think through what we wanted to do and Mesh was patient answering questions we had for him quickly and following up with us by phone. Once we made our decision, Mesh was also able to accommodate the start date we requested. The crew he sent in were excellent. They were polite, courteous and accommodating. They knew our concern about keeping the hardwood floors clean and each day they lined everything with heavy cardboard and cloth. We were also concerned about not having a railing at night for my daughter and dogs. Each night before they left, they made a makeshift railing out of spindles and plastic wrap. It was very impressive and gratefully appreciated. Also, each night, they cleaned up as much as they could minimizing the dust and making it easy for us to get around the work. Their workmanship was top notch. The stairs were beautifully sanded and stained, the trim painted very nicely and the spindles installed with great care. We cannot find any fault in the workmanship. The job was done within one week as promised. We highly recommend Ideal Stairs for their workmanship, attention to detail and professionalism. Great company. Thanks Mesh.

Ideal Stairs were an excellent company to install capping of two circular stairs in Burlington. For many years, we had stairs covered with carpet. We removed the carpet. Ideal Stairs installed red oak treads and risers and matched the staining to the handrails. We are most happy with the new stairs, and the stairs are not slippy. The work was done within five days, and it was good to have it done in such a short time for the inconvenience of construction. Well done!

Almost every aspect of dealing with this company and Mesh, who was my main point of contact, was amazing. A very thorough quotation process, short turnaround time from executing contract to starting the job. I also made a few changes to the initial scope of work which probably should have resulted in additional costs but I was not charged more than what was quoted.

There were a few issues.

1. The first is a small issue. Since the job started on a Thursday, I had to live through the weekend where no work was being performed without the safety of a railing system. I have three kids aged 1, 3 and 5 so that was a very nerve wracking weekend.

2. The second issue relates to the stain colour. Mesh explained that the difference between red oak and yellow oak effects how the stain appears which seems to have been a factor in our case.

In spite of this, I would still recommend Mesh and Ideal Stairs and would use them for another project if an opportunity arose.

I hired Ideal Stairs to replace the carpet on my stairs with Oak treads and risers. The work included re-facing the stringers, replacement of the balusters, replacement of the posts and refinishing the existing bannister. I also had them install matching hardwood in the upstairs hallway.
All of the work was top notch and completed on time. The workers sealed off the areas of the house that were not being worked on, they removed all of the old materials each day and they cleaned the work space before leaving each night.
The work was completed as promised and to my satisfaction. I am so pleased with the work that I am planning to have them install hardwood flooring in all of the bedrooms.
Raj and his team did an excellent job and I would not hesitate to recommend them.

We decided to change from carpet to laminate in our bedooms and oak on the stairs all the way to the basement. We obtained a few quotes which included Ideal Stairs. The first call to the office began our plesant journey after speaking to Jenna. Mesh was able to come over that same evening and povided a quote for the stairs and purchase and installation of laminate in the bedooms. We visited the showroom a couple days later and had a very plesant customer service experience with Jeanna. We also found another laminate that we liked for the basement at another supplier. Rajan came over and provided an estimate for the entire job which included the installation of the laminate in the basement. We proceeded with the job. It was scheduled for later in the next week. The entire job took about 5 working days. The workers were punctual and skilled in what they did. They took care and cleaned up at the end of each day. Mesh and or Rajan came over every day to check on the job. They kept us in the loop. It was always easy to contact someone and calls were returned promptly. There quote was what we paid and also included the underpad, baseboards, all oak stairs and risers and handrails. Rajan even added the 1/4 round afterwards for the basement at no additional cost. The stairs and the laminate looks great. We are pleased to get rid finaly of carpet and even more pleased with the work that Ideal Stairs did.
