We had a leak and my insurance company recommend this company. Steve came over and advised me that it would be more cost-effective to handle the repair directly rather than filing a claim. He brought in another individual to review my insurance policy and suggested that the insurance company would take more money and a deductible. Consequently, I opted to pay for the repair directly to root-rooter. However, once Steve commenced the work, he exploited the situation, claiming it was a larger job than initially estimated. He arranged to return the following day, insisting I contact the city to shut off the water supply. Throughout the process, he coerced me into addressing various supposed "issues" throughout the house. In total he took 2 days to fix a job that should take no more than an hour. A job that would have cost me $300, ended up costing me $2100, plus the city water shut-off.
In a particularly alarming move, he deliberately cut the pipe to the dishwasher, leading to flooding when we started to use it. Water came flooding into my cabinet! Despite the fact that we had used the dishwasher for years with no issue, he insisted it was a pre-existing issue, and that we were the ones being untruthful. He then demanded additional time and money to rectify the problem. Feeling unsettled and kind of scared by his behaviour, I asked him to leave my premises.
Subsequently, a different plumber I had brought over before to get a quote confirmed that shutting off the water supply was unnecessary, as I had done so previously, and the job was initially expected to be minor. This experience with the company resulted in significant financial losses and unnecessary stress. Moreover, the flooding has led to a persistent mould odour that continues to worsen. Because he cut the pipe connecting the dishwasher, we have not been able to use our dishwasher and instead do our dishes by hand. I have been traumatized by this experience, and as a woman, I now have serious fears around tradesmen. I strongly advise you to checkout all of the reviews for this company before going ahead, especially the negative ones.
