Long distance move to Regina

Moved with Trillium Moving to Regina, SK this past month. Everything was great and service was amazing. Many months ago we moved to Montreal and the company we chose delivered late. We were concerned that this would happen again. But despite the bad weather conditions and road closures, Trillium still delivered within the promised time frame. My sincere thanks to Kate who was wonderful. Kept me updated through every step and had responded to my crazy questions even after business hours. Our young family is now growing and I am sure that if we need movers in the future we wont hesitate to call Trillium Moving.
They really made us feel important. Glad we chose a Canadian Family business.

Moved from Montreal, QC - Regina, SK.

Moving household

Our experience with Trillium was terrible and costly. Our move was between Calgary and Stouffville. We sold our house with a short close, so were on a very compressed timeline to arrange the move. Trillium has sweet talking sales personnel. We trusted them and neglected to do our due diligence in checking them out. If we had done a little research, we would have discovered feedback like what you’ll see on this web site and BBB:
Here are the main issues we had with Trillium:
- When loading in Calgary the moving crew coded every packed item on the packing slip as being damaged (scratched, chipped, worn, etc.) regardless of actual condition (which in our case was pristine). When we realized what they were doing and challenged them, the movers indicated that this was mandatory practice. When we elevated the issue, the only concession we got from Trillium was that the crew foreman would write across the bottom of the form saying the furniture was actually in very good condition, but the fraudulent coding remained. Given the timelines of our move, we had no option but to hold our noses and sign.
- When our furniture arrived in Ontario the movers refused to unload any furniture until the bill was paid in full. We showed them the money order we had ready for them but they said they couldn’t unload until they had it in their possession. They assured us that all items on the packing slip were on the track and everything was in the condition as packed in Calgary. We gave them the money order.
- As they unloaded the truck, the movers ignored instructions as to which rooms to put the pieces of furniture in, and left things in random rooms. The couch and love seat were set on their ends and some cabinets were set upside down, rather than upright as any rational person would have done (!?!?). When they left the house everything was in total disarray and it took days get things into their right place.
- In the process of opening boxes, one of the movers slashed our couch with a retractable knife.
- Of the approximately 300 tagged items moved:
o three boxes were lost
o one step ladder was lost
o 10 weight plates were lost (making our weight machine inoperable)
o 4 pieces of solid oak furniture and 2 pub chairs were damaged
o We only moved two appliances – a refrigerator and a freezer. Both doors on the refrigerator were gouged and dented to bare metal. The freezer was gouged to metal.
- In response to this outcome, Trillium instructed us to complete a claim form and submit it within 10 days. To meet this timeline, we got verbal quotes for repairs, which totaled $3165. Almost half of the costs were replacing the gouged panels on the fridge and freezer. The cost of repairing the fridge exceeded its original purchase price (bought on sale).
- Trillium advised us that we had to leave the furniture “as delivered” so that they could inspect and repair themselves if they decided to do that (which they never did).
- It took Trillium nearly eight weeks to respond to our claim. Their initial settlement offer was $120 based on weight of damaged and missing items. Their claim form was incorrect compared to the form we had submitted (it missed two of the lost boxes and showed that the 1000 lbs of lost weights had been found – which they never were).
- We resubmitted our original claim form, but Trillium refused to correct their version of the claim form saying we couldn’t change the claim after it had been submitted (?!?!).
- We argued that the weight based settlement was inappropriate because Trillium was negligent in not meeting the minimum standard of care per their contract and verbal promises to us as a professional mover. They rebutted that this was a normal outcome for them (potential customers beware).
- After a month of haggling, they incrementally increased their offer to $717. At this point they indicated that our verbal quotes were not sufficient and they wanted to have written quotes and potentially have their preferred suppliers involved. We were now nearly three months in limbo and the prospect of dragging this on for more months was unpalatable. So we (again) held our noses and signed back their offer, at less than 23 cents on the dollar of what it cost us to fix the damages they caused us.
Our advice…before booking a mover, do your homework and stay away from Trillium and their affiliates.

Dear Mr. And Mrs Faulkner,
As you know Trillium Moving has addressed your claim and concerns and has compensated you well beyond the regular coverage which you didnt want to pay for. We have been more than fair and have responded to each and every one of your cocners and questions and has addressed them to your satisfaction. You have already received and accepted the refund. We would of hoped that with this kind of approach you would of posted a more proper and honest review about our company. USA Move

I recently received a promotion and was scheduled to relocate to NYC as for the new year to start my new position. Chloe was our moving planner and she was extremely helpful. Kate was also available when I needed answers.
We received am in-home estimate for 4 different companies and our employer selected Trillium. Not only because of the price but also because of the services they could perform. Full packing was a requirement along with partial storage and hoisting services at delivery time.

We required some partial storage and delivery first week of January in NY. Everything went as planned and our most important requirement which was the delivery time frame was when they delivered.

It was wonderful to work with Jack and Mark and his team at delivery. Great to see that there are people out there who still love what they are doing and are still devoted to the work not just the pay.

Great review for Trillium Moving as they really did deserve it. Thanks to the wonderful customer service team as well.

Moving from Fredericton to Calgary

My wife and I hired Trillium to move our belongings from a storage unit in Fredericton to our new home in Calgary. We chose them from a large pool of big and small movers that all had good and bad reviews. Overall our experience was poor, but from what I've learned since sharing experiences with many people who have hired many different movers, it was a typical moving experience. Maybe the whole industry is broken. Maybe the rates are too low to be able to provide consistently good service.

We had a few of damaged items, a lost lawnmower, and lots and lots of scuffs and nicks and scratches. The damaged items were all packed by the movers, and after watching how a move goes I'm not surprised that so many items got banged up in the process.

My estimated and actual weights were very different (actual was almost double) but since the estimate was done using industry standards for our goods I wasn't surprised that there was a difference. You pay for what the load actually weighs, so there really isn't much use in estimates, only the price/lb and the conditions of the move are important when comparing movers.

I requested a weigh scale ticket to show the tare and load weights and justify the final invoice, and what I was given was a note on Trillium letterhead stating that the load was weighed at their own scale in Toronto and stated the net weight. That wasn't going to fly with my company (who were paying for my move) so I then requested (in fact, argued for) a re-weigh at a public certified scale. It's important to note that using public certified scales is required in the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario Regulation 643/05 (Section 18.1) and the other provincial Regs I looked at as well.

Of course normally there's no way to know what's in the truck when the weights are taken, but that's another story... Anyway, I was surprised to see that there was a significant difference between Trillium's own scale and the truck stop scale. Trillium's weight was much higher (>1200 lbs).

I was provided a refund for the difference in weight as well as the re-scaling fee (the truck stop charged $200, which I payed for out of pocket) without hesitation, but also without an explanation.
Two small but not insignificant good parts of the whole experience: communication was professional and timely, and delivery was only a little late.

I also learned a funny thing: the movers (any movers) have little motivation other than online reviews to provide good service: if you're insured, then the insurance company will pay for damages; if you're not insured, then nobody pays for damages. The moving company is only responsible for $0.60/lb whether we're talking a box of old paperbacks or a big screen TV.

Next time - as much as it will be difficult - we'll get a UHaul and drive our own stuff across the country.

move montreal-vancouver

Chloe was very helpful and polite. that is the high point.
no weigh bill provided, cost was approx 3000 over estimate. I know its hard to predict and list everything but it was quite a discrepancy. I would have liked some documentation
skidoo arrived with a broken windshield caused by im guessing the shoe print on it. motorcycle - broken mirror, taped back on. box of electronics mia. pretty much everything they touched has some sort of scratch or scuff. I am just disappointed about stuff that could have been avoided with a little care

Relocated to Saint Laurent, QC

Great experience with Trillium. We moved many times and I am familiar with the process and what to expect. Searched around not only for the best price but also for best customer service. I was happy that we didnt have to deal with 10 different people. I was in contact with the same person from the quote to the final delivery set up. That made things so much easier. Kate was great to deal with.
The crew was good at pick up in Edmonton. Took the time to protect everything which in turn helped everything arrive in order at delivery.
The quote was a smooth process and my work was paying so the moving company was good about dealing with the payment part of it. Great to get back to us which was a bonus.
All in all I think we would move with them again.

Trillium Moving/Storage

My family and I recently relocated from Ingersoll, ON to Laval, QC. We had our stuff picked up on November 7th and got everything delivered on November 26th, 2013.
The pick up crew was just awesome. Never complained once. They worked hard and although it was snowing hard and very cold temperatures never once did this stop them. We even requested the same crew, but understood that maybe not all of them will show up.
We were very happy when we opened our door at our new home and saw that most of the same crew arrived. They made it work! The crew knew our stuff and knew where to put them. We had no heavy lifting to do at delivery, and what was left was only unpacking of the boxes that was left to do.
I was very happy with the service, and the price was very fair. They even included the storage in-between as part of the price/quote. Very recommended by myself and my family. We felt really comfortable with them being in our home!

Move to Toronto

Last weekend I completed my move with Trillium.
In august I made the appointment for my stuff to be picked up in Regina, everything went good, the men were very nice and helpful
I had to keep my stuff with them for longer than I thought, Kate was very good and helped me a lot to make the plans for the storage.
Last weekend they delivered my stuff to my new condo in Toronto.
The delivery men were polite and very quick, they helped me put my bed up and they were very clean.
I am really happy I picked Trilium, everyone was great to work with and I would use them again.
