Gas dryer not heating up

DO NOT ALLOW JOHNNY INTO YOUR HOUSE. After reading some recommendations for JC Appliance Repair on Nextdoor I had the most unfortunate experience of allowing Johnny into my house to repair my gas dryer, which suddenly was not heating up. He very promptly gave me his diagnosis of the issue, saying that it would cost me $800+ to replace the part and that, even though it was an older dryer, it was worth fixing because older dryers are better. Less than an hour later he told us that the dryer was fixed. We paid him $881.40, as requested, and he left. It only occurred to me the next time we used the dryer later that week, when we discovered that the dryer was still not heating up, that he did not leave a receipt or invoice and he did not leave the old part, which was about as big as a very small pen, something that good repair men usually do to prove that they have replaced a non-functional part. When we called him again, he insisted that the dryer had been heating up properly before he left and that if he came back, he would charge us his basic fee (approximately $150.00) just to diagnose again. We felt we were being ripped off and told him so. He hung up and would not answer any of our calls after that.

We are senior citizens on a fixed income, and disabled.

Dishwasher Repair

After 2 weeks of waiting for my part for my dishwasher, I called to find out the status of the repair. The receptionist that answered (Sona) was extremely rude and obviously having a very bad day. As this was during COVID-19 times, I understand that things are very stressful and difficult for businesses but professionalism should be maintained at all times. She kept interrupting me and would not let me finish any sentence I started. She kept saying that they had so much work to do and only 4 hours to do it in -- that I had no idea how busy they were. She went on to explain about how complicated everything was for them now and that she could not keep up. When I told her that I only called to find out the status of my repair and that she should stop cutting me off and let me finish speaking, she hung up on me! I was extremely surprised that she did that with no considerations about how this will look for the company. As she is the representative of the company, my impression is a very negative one.

Horrible service

If I could give zero stars, I would. I rarely write reviews, but you need to know what you're signing up for. I guess this is a certified GE technician and so they were sent to help with our fridge, however literally the worst experience. Initially came to fix our fridge and told us we had a missing part, understandable. Then upon waiting another week for parts to be ordered, they called with less than 24hours notice to say they were coming the following day to perform maintenance between 9AM-1PM. So my husband takes the day off last minute to make sure we can receive maintenance.

Technician comes and after 10 minutes proceeds to say he still does not have all the parts and to wait to be called yet AGAIN to schedule another appointment (so a waste of time...). Another week later, I receive a call to have maintenance performed the following week again during 9-1, I called back to confirm this appointment (and spoke to someone who spoke with a lot of attitude) and had a family member take their day off in order to stay at our house to receive the technician.

I miss a call at 12, on the CONFIRMED day, while at work (where I am unable to use my phone) and no voicemail is left. When I get off work and finally am able to return the call, the technician claims to have left because I didn't answer my phone. Excuse me? You couldn't have rung the doorbell?! I called to complain and spoke to a manager who told me is was a simple "miscommunication"/"misunderstanding" because the dispatcher did not properly communicate to the technician that it was a confirmed appointment. Okay, I understand that but why is it okay that the customer suffers from your mishap? I appreciate that the manager took her time to ensure I was scheduled again according to what fit my needs, but seriously... that is 3 days worth of time wasted, with zero progress. That is not okay!!! Beyond frustrated to say the least.

I can assure you that all the steps which are taken by J C Appliance to repair an appliance is based on the instructions of the tech support.

Sorry you had to wait for part, sorry you had to wait for service call and miss the service tech's visit. YES there was a discrepancy in the communication but it would have been better if you had supplied your husband's phone number if he was the one staying home and waiting for the servicer rather then yours if you were going to be in classroom. I think I, as s manager of J C Appliance had a very friendly discussion with you and tried to accommodate you at your requested time slot. Based on the oversight on our end, we have accommodated you with date and exact time to do the repair. It surprises me that after all that you would put a ZERO rate review.

It is unfortunate that happy customer's never go on to put a review because they have no time to spend. It is only unhappy customers do so. I wonder if you would like to have your service completed? J C Appliance Ltd

Washing machine service call

Service call within 2 minutes ascertained that washer could not be repaired..charged full service call fee (give me a break) and leaves a non-descript receipt with no busines name or invoice # I require for business purposes. Have tried calling leaving messages 3 times.
This is not how a professional business is run.
So pathetic and disappointing to see how customers are treated when in need of profesionalism.

THIS IS A DISHONEST, LAZY AND INEXPERIENCED COMPANY!

Adrian came to our home to assess/diagnose the issue with our fridge as there was no longer cool air. He says it is our compressor. He never opened up the back of the fridge or checked anything. He also complained that to fix it will take hours and we will have to open up windows. He also said a new compressor is also like a bandaid and best bet would be to find a new fridge.

Before I spend $2,000 on a new fridge, I called Whirlpool again and asked to send another company. They did. This repairman was thorough . He took the back of the fridge off and examined....to find out it was simply the relay that needs replacing - $50 piece. He had one on him and the fridge was fixed in 45 minutes.

I believe that J C Appliance is a fraud.

Bad service

Review of: J C Appliance Ltd - 2150 Steeles Ave W, Concord, ON

I went in to pick up my Hoover cordless vacuum, and brought another 2 cordless hoovers that need repair
The owner didn’t know yet that I was also there to pick up 1. And instead of being happy for business being brought to her, she looked at me with a rude face and asked what the issue was. I told her that one had the wheels broken and the other one was not working. Then she asked where I was using them. (While holding a detective face) I told her that I use them at my home and that I have 1 on each floor. She immediately jumped into conclusions and said: no, I think you are using these commercially.
At that point I took my vacuums back closer to me, emptied my pockets to show her I did not have the original receipts for them, and that I was going to pay out of my own pocket to get them fixed.
Maybe there is some manufacturer policy that do not allow people to claim warranty on the Hoover’s if it’s being used commercially. Which I AM NOT. I have no idea if there is a difference from commercial or residential warranty claims and I don’t care if there is, . because… I am not a commercial customer, i do not own a cleaning business.. I just like my home clean and to make cleaning easy I have 1 on each floor
You should not be judging people like that. You are not the Vacuum cop.
Plus.. Took 1 month to replace the wheels on my Hoover vacuum and I had to follow up twice. (I wasn’t even stressing about this)
Blame on this is actually on Hoovers that has access to all the bad review this and some other service center stores have and don’t do anything about it.
Upset customers should also log their complaints in Hoover’s Twitter, Facebook and customer support page so see if they step up their game.

Dishwasher Repair

I called for a broken dishwasher. I was able to get a technician to my house within three hours of the call. He came about 20 mins early, but he called first and I was home. He diagnosed my dishwasher as being too expensive to fix, which was disappointing of course, but I appreciated the honesty. All in all it was a good experience. It was a pretty fast diagnosis, so it would be nice if they used something like Skype as an option, but still - I would use them again.

Stay away

Had to request a part to be ordered three times before they actually ordered it. I can't believe whirlpool won't replace these people as the reviews are largely negative. Stay away.

washing machine repair

I used J C Appliance Ltd located at 2150 Steeles Ave W to repair my whirlpool washer. I did not expect to receive such a pleasant service tech and economical price. Another servicer had quoted me much higher price and was extremely rude that is why I changed to J C Appliance Ltd. Moreover, one of my parts was coverd under manufacturer's warranty which I was not aware, J C appliance Ltd brought it to my attention and I did not have to pay for it. The job was completed at the time they promised. Extremely happy and would highly recommend
