Fireplace Boy

Had Neil repair a remote for our gas fireplace. I contacted Fireplace Boy through HomeStars and was called by them to see the issue. They diagnosed and repaired in a timely manner. Still waiting for a paid invoice that I requested in November though.
In January the same fireplace stopped working. Contracted Neil and he came and diagnosed that we needed a part. First it would take a couple weeks, when that deadline passed and contacted them, no answer. We called, left messages, emailednothing until February 15 a message saying the part has shipped. Last message from them. Horrible communication skills. Too bad as we lost our winter with a fireplace. Would NOT recommend.

brought new life to my bbq, my 5 year Weber looks almost new, and he was extremely helpful when showing me how to operate the new fireplace.

I own a 42" built in Lynx professional grill and a 2XL charcoal ceramic Big Green Egg. Also outdoor cabinets and a complete outdoor kitchen. I simply do not let anyone else touch my setup other than Neil and his team. In the summer, they always come and do an efficient cleaning job to start the season - it's always spotless after they take care of it. They've serviced our 2 fireplaces, as well, and got them running after a long time without use. But the reason I'm reviewing them is that they recently fixed a major leak in our patio. They came in, assessed, found the leak and fixed it on the same day - on top of it all, the pricing was more than fair. If you need fireplace, gas or barbecue services, do not think twice before using them.

I have a landscape company in Toronto and we have use Neil and his team for years. They are polite, tidy and do a great job. They have done fireplace installations, fire pit installations and BBQ installations including new gas lines for all of the above. I would highly recommend them.

Neil and crew exceeded our expectations. 
They cleaned our BBQ so well, it reminded us how much we enjoy using it. 
They also made time to service our fire place and got it working like it did when we first bought it.

I contacted Neil at BBQ Boy in May 2019 for a two repairs. The starter on my Napolean BBQ and to repair my Traeger Smoker. It took about a week to get him to come out to my home (in Toronto) and he repaired the starter on the Napolean but did not have the part for the Traeger (he said the problem was the control board). The repair took about 40 minutes because he also cleared the auger on the Traeger.

He said it would take up to two weeks to get the part for the smoker and he would come back and finish the job, when he got the part. He charged me over $300 for the service, which I was willing to pay because I had assumed he would come back to finish the job.

After two weeks, I called Neil and spoke to him and he said he "ordered the part" for the Traeger but it had not come in yet. So, I waited.

A few more weeks past and nothing from Neil.

By mid-June, Neil was no longer answering my calls from my cell phone, so I called him from a landline and finally got him to answer the call on July 11, 2019. He said he "had the part" and that he would be at my house the next day. He never showed up.

I have called him, texted him, sent him emails and he has not responded.

He was quick to take my money, but he did not finish the job. I will be taking him to small claims court now.

I would strongly advise against using him. He is terribly unreliable, dishonest and evasive. After almost 3 months, my smoker is still not working and if I had relied on someone more competent and trustworthy, I would have had the use of the grill all summer.

The last thing I want to mention is read some of the negative reviews and you'll start to see a pattern with Neil. When (and if) you can get him on the phone to finish the job, he will tell you to text him your address or he will be there tomorrow or some other half truth and he will have no intention of fulfilling his promise. Avoid BBQ Boy and Neil.

BBQ Boy came by today, exactly when scheduled, to service my outdoor fireplace that was plugged and not working. Neil is quick, efficient and professional. A year ago, when the igniter had to be replaced, my experience with Neil was just as satisfactory and I didn’t hesitate to call them up again. Other companies I called claimed they couldn’t do a thing and one even tried to convince me to get rid of the fireplace, because it would never work! I happily recommend this company to anyone needing service for their gas BBQ or fireplace.

THEY CAME AND CLEANED OUR WEBER SUMMIT. DID A GREAT JOB.
CAME BACK TO FIX THE DOORS N/C. THE COST OF SERVICE WAS IN LINE WITH OTHER COMPANIES. NEIL WAS EASY TO DEAL WITH AND VERY PROFESSIONAL.
THEY WENT OUT OF THEIR WAY TO MAKE SURE THAT THE WORK WAS DONE AND WAS DONE WELL.
