Skywest Renovations

We contracted Shane to renovate our entire interior house, Kitchen, remove bearing wall, doors, baseboards, window casing, bathrooms, hardwood floors on both main and upper levels, new railing on staircase, etc. The renovation started in March 2014 and was to be completed in 4 months. We had to move out of our house for 7 months and the reno was not fully completed until November of 2015. We had many of his subcontractors threatening to put a lien against our house as he did not pay them. His own workers never stayed more than a couple of hours and maybe showed up 3 times a week. Shane was hired to oversee the job and only would check it out after we would send him text after text or email after email, with our complaints. We would have been far better off overing this job ourselves and hiring our own contractor.
However after saying all of that when our house was finally finished it is beautiful.

last october 2014 i hired Skywest to fix the damage caused by a water leak. It is now May 2015 and it still isnt finished. He doesn't return emails or phone calls. I would never recommend his company for a renovation!

We first met Shane at the Home Show, and were immediately impressed with his professionalism and his understanding of what it was we wanted to have done. Initially we had spoken about just a kitchen reno, but quickly realized that once we started, it just made sense to all of our anticipated renos at once. This was no small job, as it included moving a load-bearing wall, and a complete interior demo, from ceiling to floor, and everything in between.

Shane kept in constant contact throughout this process, which spanned approximately 5 months. The work included knock-down ceilings, hardwood and tile throughout on two floors, all new interior doors, new furnace and water heater, all window and door trim, baseboards, granite in the kitchen and bathrooms, stone fireplace, and doubling the size of the kitchen, which brought us to Shane in the first place. The kitchen in our home, like many, is the focal point, and never fails to draw compliments when people see not only the cabinets (which are awesome), but the custom backsplash, the island, and the counter tops.

Shane was professional throughout the project, which wasn't without it's hiccups, but they were very small when you take time to consider all the trades, sub-contractors, and schedules that have to work together. This was a big project, which we are super happy with. The compliments we get when people see the results, including a number of family and friends that are tradespeople, confirm to us that we made the right choice when choosing a contractor. Its been four months since Shane and Skywest have said they would complete the kitchen renovation. We have had promise after promise, doors ore ordered,doors are done,doors are being shipped but they have not shown up.Shane has made promise after promise,says his supplier will not contact him or work with him. As of today we are firing him and his company and hiring a contractor to complete the job. If anyone wants to use this company i would say have him do the work first then pay him for the work, or hold back 50% of the contract.

Skywest does nice work, IF you can get them to show up. It's been 5 months since they started my kitchen renovation and it's still not finished. The owner Shane will promise you the Earth but when it actually comes time to do the work, his contractors are nowhere to be found. It's impossible to communicate with anyone because no one will return phone calls or texts. The only reason my kitchen is as finished as it is is because I had to resort to threats to call the BBB. I finally have a usable kitchen again but there are still issues that haven't been addressed. We actually had to do some of the work ourselves just so we could use our outlets again. The quality of the work is good but if you are on a timeline, definitely find someone else.
