Simon and team's work is amazing. We love our new hardwood floors and iron spindles. It was a pleasure to have them in our home. Within the 1st few hours of requesting a quote, Simon contacted me and set a time to come by to look at the job. We were looking to replace the flooring throughout the entire house and 2 staircases. Simon gave a few great suggestions on what could be done, particularly with the basement stairs and came back with a very reasonable proposal promptly. After getting 3 more quotes we chose to work with SB Hardwood.
As my husband works night shift, Simon was able to arrange with his team member (Matthew) to start at 7am & be finished each day by 1pm so my husband could get some sleep. Although this made the project longer than usual, every day Matthew arrived on time and left the house swept up and tidy. Every day I was kept abreast of each stage of the project and the job was completed on the promised date.
We had only one small issue with the refurbished banister being loose due to the way it was originally designed but Simon came back the next day to inspect the problem. He quickly came up with the best solution to make the banister solid and safe and that was to my liking. Due to their busy schedule, we had to wait a couple of weeks to get the modification done but they returned as promised and had everything done within a few hours.
I highly recommend Simon and his team and will definitely have them back for any future updates to our home. Thanks Simon and Matthew. Job excellently done!

Simon was absolutely fantastic to work with as each step of the process was handled professionally and with courtesy. All questions were explained thoroughly, phone calls promptly answered and all scheduled times were met. Also the attention to detail and cleanliness with thoroughly installing plastic to keep the dust out was impressive along with protecting our floors with cardboard and vacuuming. The finished red oak treads and risers gave the basement entrance a complete new look and I am really grateful for the work Simon and his Dad Bob did as the update to our basement staircase was long overdue.

We were very pleased with Simon and his team. Other companies commented that our staircase project was very complicated as our stairs had been previously painted. Simons team accepted the challenge and transformed our stairs on time and within the quoted budget. They proceeded to lay all new hardwood floors for us and went a step further in upgrading our baseboards and door trims.

We had SB Hardwood sand and refinish our stairs and railing, and replace the pickets and posts and 2 landings and we are very pleased with the final result.

They were very easy to deal with, Simon is a very friendly guy who was accommodating, and we valued his input and suggestions. The price was less than we had from other quotes.

One thing that jumped out and sealed the deal for SB Hardwood was they were willing to reinstall the stair handrail at the end of the day every time they removed it. Other companies said they will remove it and it will be off for 3-4 days but depending on when they start, that could include a weekend, so possibly 6 days. So when SB said the stair railing would be back on every evening that clinched it.
Simon gave us a choice of post and picket styles.
We went with the piano style stairs dark wood treads to match the floor and white trim and risers.
Everyone who has seen it, loves it.
The stain for the stairs is a perfect match to the hardwood floor - so much so that people have a hard time believing that the stairs are original and not purchased alongside with the hardwood floor.
They used our garage for cutting and sanding and at the end of every day they tidied and took their tools and equipment with them or moved it to the garage so they werent in the way.
It was a stress and hassle-free experience and we really appreciate the work done.

Working with Simon and his team was a wonderful experience. From the initial quote and during the whole project process they have been very easy to work with, gave great suggestions, easy to communicate with, and completed work on time while keeping the home tidy. I had the floors and stairs refinished, and although there were two different types of wood Simon and his team managed to find an almost identical match so the colouring is consistent. I have been waiting for many years to remove the carpet off of the stairs and upper floor in my house. I contacted SB Harwood thinking Id just start with a quote and then decide from there.
Simon showed up promptly, explained what needed to be done. Within a few days he provided a detailed quote. He brought many samples and offered his professional ideas and opinions as to colour and product choices.
Simon began the project exactly on the day and time
he promised. He came every day and provided
updates as to a completion day and finished on the day he estimated. Every day before he left, the area was cleaned up and left tidy.
Simon is very personable and friendly. He always took time for a little chat. He welcomed every question I asked.
Most impressive however, on top of everything else is that the my stairs and upstairs hallway are absolutely
stunning! They look exactly as the pictures I was shown if not better! I actually cannot believe how beautiful it looks! Makes me regret not doing it years ago. For any further projects Simon will be the one and only person I contact.

I had been wanting to convert my carpeted stair case to hardwood for years, but having received some informal quotes in the past, it was a bit of a pipe dream - it was just too unaffordable. So when I was getting ready to tear out the old carpet I decided to send out a few quote requests for hardwood stairs, just to confirm that it wasn't an option. Simon responded quickly with great questions to ensure he was giving me an accurate quote. He was super helpful in explaining how it all worked and in offering advice. His quote came back lower than I had imagined and made me realise I could afford this after all. Most importantly, there there was no cutting on quality. Simon and Bob are absolute pros who treated my home and stairs like their own. Simon is passionate about his work and it shows in the care and detail of the work done.
