I wish I had checked the work that was done on my wall before Shawn left my place. I guess I was so mesmerized by the design of the wallpaper, that I missed the major flaws.
It was only after Shawn had left that I noticed all the unsightly flaws. Needles to say, I'm not entirely impressed with the work that was done. However, I want to be as fair as possible with my review. So here it goes:
POSITIVES:
- Shawn worked independently, so we avoided the "too many hands-on-deck" issue.
- He knows wallpaper very well. He gave me and my husband a little lesson on the different brands.
- Shawn was very polite.
NEGATIVES:
- Shawn makes it clear that he PREFERS to work with EXPENSIVE wallpaper. He hated the wallpaper I'd chosen, calling it "horrendous." So, I felt that he began working with a BIASED attitude, which prevented him from doing a good job.
- Job was rushed: I wasn't very neat - he left a spatter of glue on our wall, which we had to scrape off ourselves, there was also a lot of glue on the edges of our ceiling and spilled on our hardwood, which I had to wipe off myself. I didn't mind cleaning up , I just really wanted my wall to be done right, unfortunately, that didn't work out. This brings me to my next point...
- Inconsistent: Shawn blames the quality of my wallpaper for the way it turned out. However, it was very inconsistent as some areas of the wallpaper were seamless and others were clearly overlapped.
- There's misalignment on some panels. We chose a white, damask print with intricate details and some of them were off, but this is only noticeable if you look closely.
- A lot of areas of the paper bubbled, I'm guessing because glue wasn't spread evenly
- Communication Issues: Shawn assured us that we can just call him back to fix any issues with the wallpaper (bubbles, etc.,) yet I had to send five messages before he responded to my request. There was also a time when he just dropped by to check out the wallpaper overlap I had asked him to fix, without confirming with me whether or not I'd be home. Clearly there's was a communication issue.
BOTTOM LINE:
- The job was NOT done to our satisfaction, and Shawn came to look at the errors and said there was nothing he could do because the paper we chose was CRAP.
He offered to take down our wallpaper at no cost if and when we decide to install a more expensive type of wallpaper. But, he made it clear that he was ONLY going to install the expensive kind. So, in summary, if you want to work with this company, make sure you use only the finest quality of wallpaper, if you want to avoid disappointment.
I hate giving less-than-stellar reviews, but I strongly felt that I should be honest about my experience. This review shouldn't diminish the reviews of others, but all clients reserve every right to share their own experience.
