We needed to improve our attic insulation which was 18 years old. I got this one done by Eco Comfort Insulation & Contracting. I would summarize my experience in three categories: Sales, Insulation work, and finally results with some numbers.
Sales: Their salesperson a gentleman by the name Wojtek came to gives us estimate and evaluate our need. He was very professional, and provided us with the information we needed to make the decision. He summarized what would be the best suited for our house attic insulation. His price was quite reasonable with very flexible payment option, cash, credit card or cheque. And finally he suggested we should have our walking closet, the pathway to the attic, ready for the day of insulation. Honestly, I had a number of other quotes, and read a lot of reviews, but bottom line I used partly gut feelings and partly reviews and went EcoComfort mostly felt quite comfortable with Wojtek's honest approach.
Insulation Work: Two gentlemen by the name, Daniel and Luis, came to our place within the set timeframe window. They were very organized and polite. Each of them did their job without any confusion or discussion, like programmed robots. First thing they dusted away their coversheets outside the house close to curbside one by one. Then they used those coversheet to cover our floor and the pathway to the attic. They used one of those sheets to seal the door of the walking closet to our attic making sure no dust gets inside room/house. Then they started their work, each doing their job without any delay or confusion. After their job, I peeked through the latch to the attic to see the finished job. It looks nice job done, but I will have to wait till Energuy Energy Efficiency inspector to do the technical inspection next Tuesday. Will have update on that one. And finally, the vacuumed the closet, and their pathway inside the house. Very please with their attitude. Thank you Daniel and Luis.
Result with some numbers: After insulation I measured the temperature drop during day and night. The first night after insulation outside temperature was -8 Celsius. I lowered my thermostat from 21 Celsius to 16 Celsius at 10:00pm. By 3:30am, when going to washroom I checked the thermostat and it was reading 18 Celsius. Basically I had lost only 3 degree within five and half hour. And my furnace did not kick in till morning when I woke up. However, before insulation my furnace normally would run at least few times during the night like that. So to avoid to make this one a boring story, I have monitored my thermostat with more data and I am pleased that I got the insulation upgrade.
Summary: The salesperson was professional without any pressure tactic and the price was very reasonable. Job quality appears to be very good and the result tells me money well spent. My furnace will work shorter, meaning more saving and much quieter house. Thank you Wojtek.
