According to our records the furnace that we inspected (Model: G51MP-36B-070-01) had a faulty High-Limit safety device, which is a safety component that monitors and controls the excessive heat within the furnace chamber. The furnace was not turning on heat and the house was a bit cold while we visited. It was clearly giving the code of high limit not responding (left LED slow blinking and the right LED steady). This activity was well observed by you as you had been present and monitoring our work. Please note that once a safety device starts malfunctioning, it must be replaced to ensure the safety. Sometimes there is a possibility that this device can intermittently operate, however, since it is a safety device, it is essential that this device must be replaced to prevent any hazardous situation in the house. Consequently, we advised you to replace this component. The company that you called after may have found the safety device operational at the time of inspection but it is apparent that they did not check the integrity of the component as they were unaware of the previous situation; therefore, they were able to simply clean your furnace and make it operational. This device can generally be replaced for approximately $150-$200 in normal circumstances. However, your furnace was installed in such a way that requires the gas line to be dismantled in order to access your High Limit safety device, which is why the quote we provided you was above the normal price. Moreover, the price we quoted you also included the professional furnace cleaning from our truck mounted system.
