Tlg Contracting Ltd.

We hired TLG Contracting Ltd. to undertake a large job in our home. We quickly trusted the owner and his associate as they seemed eager and knowledgeable about what we wanted to accomplish. They assured us they were licensed and insured to do the work and that their crew of 6 guys was a very experienced bunch. The first red flag should have been raised when they asked for a 50% deposit up front. We managed to agree that a 25% deposit was enough to book the job and we would give more money based on milestones completed. Although we saw troubles from the onset (1 week with no meaningful work done) we were constantly reassured that delays are very common things in construction. We gave over 70% of the total money for the contract and we received less than 50% of the work. When more money was demanded we stood firm and said not until we are given what is owed in terms of work. That is when TLG Contracting walked off the job leaving us with a house that was in complete chaos and taking over 25,000 with them. We've since found out we were lucky as they have done this to others and for much more financial gain (in the 100's of thousands). We've also found out that TLG Contracting is NOT actually licensed with the city of Toronto and that insurance is most likely not up to date. There are legal preceding's against this company and the owners so please do not ever get fooled by the nice guys act.
