Homes first is a non-profit housing and shelter organization in Toronto. Completing capital projects is extremely difficult with the funds available.
One of our building in Toronto that had substantial active foundation water entering our staff and resident common space enabling it from being used and preventing vital services to those most in need.

We actively searched for a contractor that would provide a competitive price and good workman ship and stand behind there work. through word of mouth we engaged with A&A Setting Stone checked there references and work they have completed for others. They provided a very competitive price, lower then expected as this was a very difficult site with permits required to block the side walks and additional personal to manage pedestrians .
The project was 60 liner feet of foundation water proofing on a very difficult location next to a major arterial road and heavily used side walk.

A&A Setting Stone managed all the permits for sidewalk closure and pedestrian management.

The work commenced and during the project they ran into many unforeseen complication left by the builder. A two day job went into three days step by step they keep us up to date with pictures of every step on the third day there was a call for heavy rain the following day and they stayed till very late to get the job done and open up the sidewalk. As expected was provided with additional cost due to the additional materials and labour but he choose to only charge the quoted amount as we are a non-profit and the services we provide the community.
A&A Setting Stone owner and staff were great to work with and well mannered and there workmanship is top notch. I highly recommend them for any project. We have already engaged on another project with them as we have multiple sites.

Did great work with the house foundation. The work was done in a timely manner and was not very costly.

Recently bought a lovely little house, the home inspector told us that a wall in the front room was load bearing and would need supporting if removed. The front room is quite small so needed this out to start a DIY home reno, i'm very handy and capable, but would not touch something that I don't fully understand.
After searching google I found this company, looked perfect and offered exactly what we needed.

I asked for a quote and he turned up 15 minutes later than agreed but he arrived.

We discussed my needs and exactly what needed to be done, there were two walls, one was assumed to be load bearing and the other just cosmetic, Both walls needed removing and supported with a steel or wooden beams to keep the room open.

He agreed and we arranged a time on Saturday for him and what i assumed would be a few guys to get the job done, the price agreed was $2300 cash, for a days Labour and a steel/wooden beam this seemed reasonable.

Saturday arrived and again 15/20 minutes later than agreed but he and his buddy arrived, he left one guy on site and left.

A few hours later i popped in to see how it was going and spoke to his labourer, I asked if it was a load bearing wall and would need the support, he told me no, Great thats going to save me a fortune on a steel beam!

I messaged the boss to find out now how much he needed me to get out as no beam was needed so assumed the price would be reduced drastically as its now just one labourer for 6 hours.

I got a reply to tell me that it would still be 2300 regardless, we went back and forth for a while, and he refused to lower the price, he used a bunch of excuses to get out of it.

I was told that his labourer would be paid $48 dollars per hour and thats why he needed to charge me $2300, i'm not quite sure where the other $2021 dollars went!

He knew full well i'd have no issues in taking the two very smalls walls down myself (6x9 and 9x9 stud, lathe and plaster)but thought it would be ok to charge me 2300 for one guy for 6 hours.

His bill was paid in full but id never recommend him, $2300 for 6 hours of labour is ridiculous, we was not willing to reconsider or lower the price, he was only concerned with making extra cash!

Refaceced my front of home with stone.
Results and services where exceptionally amazing and accomadating. Back yard stone work. Looks and feels like an oasis.
As a result my parents where so impressed they are using him aswell.

We would like to thank Billy for the fabulous job which he and his crew completed for us. Now exterior wall looks wonderful with the stone that they installed.
