The Re:Leaf Group was hired for major arbor work on our property 10 years ago, and we were so satisfied, we asked them to return. Andrew reviewed our list of arbor work and provided an estimate to trim 3 mature trees and 4 smaller trees/bushes and remove deadwood. His responses were prompt. On the scheduled day, Andrew and Alex arrived and set to work on one linden (trim branches away from roof, clear deadwood, and check cable bracing), and the second linden (clear branches from hydro lines, clear deadwood). Our neighbour's apple tree was trimmed so branches did not overhang our property. The Amur maple, dogbane, lilac bush, and oak leaf hydrangea were trimmed to contain their size and form. It is clear that Andrew loves his work and is very adept. He is conscientious and courteous. A skilled climber, he works efficiently and safely. Our property was cleaned up afterwards and he only departed after we were satisfied that the job was thorough and completed. Ozone Duct Cleaning responded promptly to my request for an estimate to clean the air ducts in our home. Todd was here more than 5 years ago and did such a good job, we asked him to return. He cleaned the supply vents, cold air returns, bathroom exhaust fan, and dryer vent. He repaired the dryer hosing which had two tears in it. Todd spent about four hours and was thorough. He was respectful of our time and property. He texted ahead to confirm his arrival time. Prior to starting, he took measures to protect our home. Thorough work takes time. You get what you pay for - the service was stellar. I'm pleased to support a company with an impressive level of integrity, character, and commitment.

After contacting several masonry companies on HomeStars, Turnbull Masonry contacted us promptly. Several days later, an estimator visited the property to assess the chimney damage. Soon after we added tuckpointing and caulking to the scope of the project. The quote was thorough and clear. About two weeks later, a team arrived to set up scaffolding and make the repairs. Two workers demolished the chimney down several courses, rebuilt it (taking care to match the brick and mortar), installed a new concrete cap and flue tiles. They also tuckpointed a number of spots and caulked the gap between the porch and house. Hadayath and Alessandro worked efficiently to get the job done in an afternoon. They were professional and tidied up afterwards. Thanks to Bill and Ellen for coordinating the project and the invoicing. We are delighted with the work and will use Turnbull Masonry again for any future projects.

We found Valentin on HomeStars. After diagnosing the potential problem through phone calls, text messages, and photos, Valentin provided an estimate before scheduling an appointment. He arrived on time and with all the equipment needed to adjust the plumbing beneath the kitchen sink to comply with code. He worked efficiently and explained what he was doing to provide a clearer understanding of the repair. He tested the repair for leaks and ran water to check for back flow into the dishwasher (the original problem). What set Green Scene Landscaping apart from other contractors we considered was their pre-project planning. As novices to landscaping, we were provided with a Landscaping Project Guide and Checklist to orient us to the process. Then a Client Questionnaire helped us articulate project needs, giving Eddie and his team a clear idea of the scope. Our top priority was re-grading the property to prevent future overland flooding. Among other installations, a front and back walk, seat wall, swale, deck steps, sodding and plantings were planned. Nancy finalized the landscape design and an estimate was provided. We were prepared to phase the project in over several years, but the quote was so reasonable, the project was completed in the first year. Although we were excited for the work to begin, we had to wait longer than expected. However, we appreciated that Green Scene is meticulous and thorough. Excellent work takes time—and good contractors are in demand. We did add to the scope as the project progressed, and Eddie took the requests in stride and accommodated them. His crew worked diligently—many 12-hour days. They function as a team and their commitment to tasks is evident. We were delighted to have the Green Scene Landscaping crew work on our property.

Thanks to Lawn Savers, our lawn continues to look green and healthy after all these years. We are contacted in advance of each visit (our contract calls for 7 visits per year). All treatments in our package are honoured. Sometimes the weather doesn't cooperate; nevertheless, our lawn gets the required treatment care. When we have questions, staff are available to support us; all have been courteous and their dedication is evident. Following each visit, a written report is emailed outlining the service(s) rendered and providing maintenance tips to maximize results. Following extensive online research and several contractor interviews, my husband and I settled on the Home Improvement People. Elia provided an estimate to renovate two large rooms in the basement as well as the front entrance. He answered all our questions and gave us confidence that HIP was the right choice. That was in the summer of 2017. After a false start with a team that wasn’t the right fit for us, Chris came on board to head a team that did a masterful job of completely gutting our partially renovated basement and finishing it. Among other things, this included asbestos floor removal, floor levelling to ready for tile, and electrical for pot lights. Along the way, several changes were made to the initial scope of the project. We asked that a number of doors upstairs be replaced. Elia accommodated these requests and Haydee in the office tracked them carefully. We were delighted with the finished basement, front entrance, and doors. In the summer of 2018, heavy rainfall flooded several houses in our neighbourhood, including our basement. We called Elia again. A flood event is distressing; he understood and put our minds at rest. We asked if Chris was available to make the repairs. There wasn’t sufficient work for an entire team, but Chris came every day for several weeks to complete the job himself. What an efficient and skilled worker. The site was tidied each evening. The basement looks fabulous again! I found Royal Work Corp. Waterproofing on HomeStars. Anatolyi arrived soon after my call to investigate a crack in our bungalow’s basement foundation. He was efficient and thorough in his investigation, discovering a second crack that was overlooked by another company. He also explained the project in detail, showing photos and telling me what to expect. The team of Andrew and Maros arrived on the scheduled day to excavate down to the footings, examine weeping tiles, seal cracks, and install two window wells. Anatolyi used a camera to assess the condition of our water pipes. Due to recent flooding in our neighbourhood, he recommended the installation of a backwater valve. The entire project was completed on schedule as described: four days including A/C disconnection and reconnection for the waterproofing and approval by a city inspector for valve installation. Anatolyi made all the necessary arrangements with outside service providers. He even helped me complete the form for the backwater valve rebate. Despite the rainy autumn weather, there was not much mud to speak of. I am grateful for the expertise of the team from Royal Work Corp. Following an extensive basement renovation, our house needed its ducts cleaned. I visited the HomeStars website and chose Ozone Duct Cleaning. Today I am breathing easier. Yesterday, Todd cleaned the air ducts, cold air returns, bathroom exhaust fan, and dryer vent. Although the air ducts were cleaned by another company following our last major renovation years ago, the job was less than adequate. Todd spent more than four hours remedying the situation, including clearing out 1" of pet hair lining the cold air returns. We moved in 12 years ago and have never owned a pet!!! Todd was respectful of our time and property. He called ahead to confirm his arrival time. Prior to starting, he took measures to protect our home. His powerful equipment is noisy, but it does the job! I could hear clumps of debris tumbling through the hose on its way out! The lawn was in desperate need of restoration when we purchased our house. Weeds and bare patches were abundant on our corner property. Following the first do-it-ourselves summer, it was clear our lawn was more than we could manage. LawnSavers worked with us to address concerns. They applied environmentally-friendly products to control weeds and to fertilize; they aerated and overseeded. After 2 years of treatment, our lawn was looking vibrant and healthy. This review is long overdue. Andrew and his team of workers arrived to remove five declining/dead trees, including a birch that was in danger of falling on our house. After arranging for the work to be done, Andrew arrived two weeks beforehand to trim the birch because he was concerned it would succumb to high winds before our appointment. We were impressed that he cared enough about our property to provide this level of service. On the day, the crew worked steadily until the work was completed, late into the evening. The stumps were ground and the wood hauled away. He left firewood for our neighbours to pick up, even cutting the logs to size for easy transport. His team also trimmed some mature trees that were overhanging the roof. Andrew impressed us with his dedication to trees, mindfulness about safety, and thoughtfulness for the homeowner. Laura arrived for a consultation. Besides replacing the eaves, she recommended leaf guard installation. No high pressure sales, just an alternative to our annual eaves clearing chore. After seeing leaf guard samples and hearing about her own linden pod woes (those small seeds that drop by the millions from linden trees), we were persuaded. No regrets.
