The Mr. Appliance tech came when he said he would. Prior to arrival, he sent a message to my mobile with his name and photo so I knew who would arrive at our door. He was professional, made his diagnosis, compiled a costed-out estimate and could accept an initial payment for the diagnostic call by credit card. When the part arrived, he again came when he said he would and got it installed and working with no fuss. Final payment, exactly as per the estimate, was also by credit card.

We live in Bridlewood, Kanata, and Kodiak provides excellent snow blowing service, which is why we have engaged its services since 2008. Since we first engaged Kodiak, several neighbours have signed up as well, probably impressed at how efficiently our driveway was cared for. Any issues, such as taking care not to fire snow at our lawn lamp, were promptly addressed.

Right from the first contact with Century, when we got an estimate, it was apparent we were dealing with a very professional outfit. The estimator, Anthony Barresi, a member of the family that owns this business, climbed onto the roof, examined it carefully and did his measurements. He then calculated an estimated cost and sat down with us to explain exactly what we would get for our money. He left with us a professional package of information that explained everything in detail. As the date for the job approached, he was in frequent contact to let us know the status of his crews and their progress on the jobs in the queue before ours. They began our job when they said they would. It would be hard to find a more professional and hard-working crew than the one that replaced our roof. They were meticulous about their workmanship and did a thorough clean-up afterward. They even did a bit of caulking for me near the roof that was not strictly part of the job but would have been difficult for me to do. I know I could have got this roofing job done cheaper but I doubt I could have had it done better.

I got 2 quotes for this job. One was from a reputable company with long experience that I had hired previously. The other was from Nick Ford at Integrity Masonry, whom I did not know. The job: replace a sill and a row of bricks under our front door and the brick sill on a second floor window. Both Nick and the rep from the other, long-established firm diagnosed the problem and recommended solutions in identical manner. I concluded that Nick had the knowledge and experience I was looking for. Since Nick's price was better, I asked his company to do the job. The work was done when he said it would be and his crew showed obvious skill and pride of workmanship. Clean-up afterwards was thorough. I feel I got full value with Integrity Masonry.

Holmes did not disappoint. Their installers, Troy Hamilton and Jamie Pritchard, arrived right at 8 a.m. and were gone by mid-day. The first thing they did on arrival is unroll a carpet to walk on. They carried out their work with expertise and efficiency, took care not to scrape or chip drywall when moving parts in and out, and thoroughly cleaned up after. We had 3 quotes for this job and the Holmes price was competitive with other established suppliers. Our decision to stick with Holmes came down to our years of experience with this company.
