Joe is truly a rare craftsman who takes pride in his work. This may seem an unusual way to describe someone who operates in the field of pest control, but when you see him in action you will see what I am talking about. He identifies the location of the nest, and then proceeds to vacuum up the wasps one at a time until they're gone, and also uses environmentally friendly means to desiccate the wasps nest location so they cannot again try to take over that nest. I learned a lot. And mostly I learned, when wasps build a nest on your property, call Joe, and you're in excellent hands.

Thank you for your review. It's an interesting time of the year when everyone is overwhelmed with wasps. This year is exceptionally busy with wasps and hornets. Favorable conditions have created a veritable bonanza of these pests. I try to vary my methods and always look for the worst case scenario because wasps can cause problems for a homeowner. What may seem simple and straight forward can easily backfire and create a bigger issue. The biggest problem is caused by simply dusting a wasp access point and assuming they will just die as they enter and exit. Wasps can strip wood off trees and they can also enter a home if they're blocked out by dust. How many calls I get with people that have blocked wasps out and now they are swarming the interior of a home is staggering. Just proceed with caution is all I ask. Joe

My dishwasher was leaking and needed repair. Egor answered immediately, asked me for the make, and arrived shortly thereafter. He discovered that the dishwasher had never been properly installed. The water line was leaking in two places and needed a new water valve. He had the parts and did the install and also fixed the wobbling. He is one of those rare people you make a note of in your address book because he is the one you want to call when one of your appliances craps out! Thank you Egor!

I had them come in and they were very professional. They cleaned all the ducts when the previous company only cleaned half the ducts. They did a great job, cleaned up after themselves, and were altogether a pleasant experience. Thank you, will definitely use again.

Valentin is a star. He is one of those rare contractors who are experts and take great pride in making sure you're being serviced well. I called him when I heard my sump pump making noises. He came within about an hour (awesome response time!) and replaced my sump pump which apparently was a cheap Home-Depot model, which broke after 3 years, with a US-made Liberty pump, which should be good much longer. He had the pump with him and did not need to "go back for parts." The new pump also keeps a much lower water level in the pit which is good for the under-house piping. He then took great care to instruct me how to take advantage of a city program subsidy, and he made sure I had all the documentation and knew how to apply to get 80% of the cost reimbursed! Thank You Valentin!

This month, Mark did the following for me and my family: - Came and investigated a leak and found several sources, all of which were fixed. There were literally several sources of leaks. It was unlikely but true and Mark persevered through, fixing them one at a time, coming back every time a new leak sprung up from another unrelated source. It was something else. - Put in a brand new furnace. He replaced the whole furnace, labour and all, all in, for 2600. Deal. Mark is always responsive and treats you with the highest priority when you have an issue. I have trusted him for years and thank him and his team for the invaluable work they have done in my home. Everyone should have someone like Mark to call when a major appliance starts misbehaving. Mark, you are a gem.

I asked Otto to quote on fixing my front steps. His quote was very reasonable, and his team showed up very timely and they ground and re-mortared the stones and bricks on my front steps. As a result I have steps that look completely like new. Near the completion of the job, Otto came by and verified the craftsmanship of his team, made a small adjustment himself that I think made a huge difference, and in the end gave me an awesome end product. Thank you very much Otto's Masonry! Would use again for sure.

About 5 years ago I had Den Air install my A/C unit. Since then I've had nothing but trouble with their installation. For one, when I had someone come and try to clean the ductwork, they informed me that the unit was installed so poorly that they could not get at all the ducts, and only ended up cleaning what they could reach. Very annoying. Now, the reason I'm writing this, a reputable repairman informed me that due to the poor installation 5 years ago, a unit that should have no troubles for at least 10 years after installation now has a leak that will require extensive repairs.

A few years ago I purchased a home near Avenue and Chaplin that had been constructed in the 1940's and had a proper addition put on in the 1980's. The basement had never been done, it had knob and tube, and it required some immediate upgrades to even qualify for home insurance. Dale took on this project as general contractor, and in the end I am very happy with the outcome. He does things by the book, got architectural drawings done, proper permits and inspections. At the end I have a complete paper trail I was able to show the bank appraiser who replied, "you have a fully legal basement apartment. That is going to add to the property value." And it did. With the nice job they did I was able to attract an excellent renter who recently signed a new contract to rent for the second year. After three years of rental use, the basement is holding up very nicely. He used special sound proofing drywall and insulation so the renter doesn't hear my 3-year old daughter running on the main floor and I hear very little from downstairs. The bathroom is also holding up very well. In fact, that basement he did is now the nicest part of the house. I was an extremely picky client, quite demanding, and he was very accommodating to my many requests. I understand when you do a large project not everything is going to go perfectly, but in the end Dale goes out of his way to stand behind his work, and that is worth gold to me.

We needed to have our backyard fixed up in time for my son's first birthday, and we had left it to the very, very end. We called around, couldn't get anyone. Finally, we decided to try the bit and piece approach and started to rip out stuff on the right side flower bed. Well, that just looked horrible, as you can see in the "before" picture. We were not happy. This is when my wife called Jay from Green Side Up. Telling him our story, Jay was very sympathetic. He made time in his busy schedule to squeeze us in. His team found us the largest and most beautiful Red Japanese Maple that he could find (at a decent price too) along with other choice plants. They graded and re-sodded the lawn. They put a covering over and mulched both side beds, looking very sharp. All this time, Jay was very personable and sensitive to our wishes. They completely transformed what looked horrible into something beautiful and easy to maintain, as you can see in the "after" picture. And check out the gorgeous red maple on the right! Now the backyard is ready for my son's first birthday, just in time. Thanks a million to Jay and the team from Green Side Up!

It was the ice storm Christmas 2013 in Toronto. I was actually away from Toronto when it happened, but I heard there was partial damage to the electrical line at my house so I came home not sure what to expect. The hydro line on the wall outside my home was partially ripped from the wall, giving inconsistent hydro service. After a few days of this my furnace went down. Hydro said because I had partial service, they needed to get to the 30,000 homes that had no power before they would consider helping me. I was down to 60 degrees. I started calling certified electricians. I called a few, quotes of $1200-1500, we'll get to you in a few days. I have 2 small children. I called House Depot. They called me back that day, $600 for the reconnection, with proper permit and paperwork, we'll take a look at your furnace and water heater. We'll be there at 4pm. He came when he said he would. Turns out the ground wire coming into my house was disconnected, leading to wildly inconsistent fluctuations in my house that fried my furnace and another appliance. He fixed it in short order. Then we couldn't get into the basement apartment to look at the furnace because the key didn't seem to work. rather than leave, which anyone else would have done, they actually helped me wiggle the key just right to get in. I still don't know how they did that. The furnace was not coming on, dead. They figured out the furnace transformer was fried. They didn't have the part there. They drove back to get the part, and fixed the furnace by installing a brand new transformer. So how much did I pay for the pleasure? Anybody else would have fleeced me. Besides the $600 to reconnect, which was at the very low end of estimates I got, he charged me $260 including parts to install the new transformer for the furnace. Wow! This man was sent by God to save my house and keep my family warm in the Ice Storm of '13. No joke. Thanks from my wife, my 4-year-old daughter, my infant son and our mother-in-law. You saved us this day.

I have to say, I've had these guys come over twice now to clean our yard and I'm so impressed with how the yard looks afterwards. They really do a thorough job on lawn and eaves trough cleanup. In fact, a few weeks afterwards, the front lawn still looks like it was just professionally raked today. The last time they came they just cleaned up the extra leaves that fell in the back yard, but it makes a big difference.

Two years ago I asked Ben to come by and check my roof before winter to see if anything needed to be done. He came by with a caulking gun, fixed up some things here and there and told me the roof was good to go, no charge. So when I asked him to come and check the roof again this year, and he came by and told me that it was time to do the roof, I knew I could trust him. I hired Luc's Roofing to do my roof. They came and did an amazing job. They gave me a high-quality, very attractive looking roof complimentary to my home at a decent price. They even went the extra mile to put in extra ice and water shield for better protection, a drip edge on the back extension and a couple of things here and there at no extra charge. I paid the original estimate price dead on. Plus their communication with their clients is very responsive, they left the front and back yard in exactly the same shape they found it, and they even covered a parking ticket I incurred when they asked me to park my car in the street to allow them to do the work. They really care to make sure that not only the roof is done in an excellent manner, but also to ensure the entire experience is pleasant for the home owner. I cannot recommend Luc's Roofing highly enough. More contractors should take a page out of their book, particularly on expertise, integrity and customer service. Gentlemen, take a bow!

They came and told us that the ductwork was placed such that they couldn't get at all of the ducts and so they charged us less for cleaning the ducts they could get to. Another cleaning company wanted us to punch a hole in the drywall and the ducts underneath, but these guys were willing to make do with what we had, and took extra time to get at the vents via the registers. Highly recommended!

Hey Werner, thanks for taking time to write a review. In some cases, it is needed to cut into the drywall to access the ductwork in order to get all of the debris out. In your case, there was enough access in the furnace room to hook-up the vacuum to do so. A small portion of the supply ducts we were unable to access, we just accessed from the vents itself. With just having your basement professionally renovated, it wouldn't have made that much of a difference to cut into the drywall for that portion. The main focus was that put on the return air ductwork, and that was able to be completely cleaned. Glad that you were happy with our work, and congrats on the place again. Thanks again for choosing us for the project, and look forward to serving you again in a few years. All the best. Paul

I just bought a home near Chaplin and Avenue, closing 17 November. I wanted to ensure the roof was good to last through the winter. I gave Luc's Roofing a call and asked if they could send someone to check it out and let me know what needs to be done. Their reviews were excellent. They said that one of their contractors would be in the area the next day, and would come over. Ben comes over the next day. He goes on my roof, with a caulking gun in his hand. He does a full inspection of the roof, and as he goes he applies a few points of caulking here and there, pops a nail back in that had come loose and caulked it up. When he is all done he comes back down and tells me after he applied a few points of caulking the roof is perfect to go through the winter. And then he doesn't charge me anything. "I'm always in the area, its no problem." Where another roofer might have quoted me who-knows-what, Ben was just concerned that my roof was okay. He did a touch-up job, and now the roof is good to go. I love these guys! Needless to say Luc's Roofing is who gets my roofing business. I know that if they say something needs to be done, I can trust them. In the sometimes fly-by-night roofing industry, that is huge.
