I had a wonderful experience with Marcon. Mark was great right from the start by explaining what I had to do in preparation for the project. I designed the addition and Marcon did all the work. I did not have to worry about permits or scheduling contractors. Mark, Brian and all the contractors were terrific! They were the most conscientious and respectful people, from the cement team, framing construction, electrical, heating/ac, plumbing, drywalling, flooring to the siding company. They were all experts in their field and I was extremely pleased with them all. They all made time for me when I had questions or concerns. They treated my home with respect and respected my privacy, my space and my pets! The project's timeline was right on, if not completed a bit earlier than proposed, even with inclement weather. I was extremely pleased when the city inspector told me Marcon is the best! I had a few of the contractors do a few extra jobs for me which were very well priced if extra was charged at all. I even had the flooring company do the rest of my home! I have recommended Marcon to many, many people and would have them do work for me anytime!

Beware: Marcon’s 5 year guarantee? We can’t get them to fix anything and if they do, the workmanship is terrible. After four years, we are consistently identifying areas where corners were cut and not meeting building codes.

Company is well coordinated and is able to get the job done but needs to be supervised every step of the way. They take short cuts, do not meet deadlines, and kill you on any extras. Dry wall contractor was unsrupulous. I had to complain about his behaviour several times. I was nervous to allow him in the house alone. I felt ripped off when I paid the final bill. The total cost was way over 65K. The cost of extra work was insane. The overall project when finally completed was good. The stress took Five years off my life.

From June -December 2011 Marcon was hired to build a ground floor accessible bedroom , bathroom , laundry room, extended kitchen area, deck and ramp.
Although it was a huge reno it was rewarding to see the fine workmanship on an almost daily basis of all the carpenters, electricans and plumbers and other subs that worked on our house . Before June there was a lot of planning that went into the job and it was handled very well by Marcon.

We embarked on a major main floor renovation which included flipping the kitchen to the other side of the house and adding on an 18' x 22' Great Room addition. Right from the start, Mark was extremely helpful in helping us determine exactly what we wanted and making recommendations to achieve that. in 2000 we undertook a 2nd storey addition and if I knew then what I know now, we would have selected Marcon in 2000. Right from the start of this recent project we were very impressed with Marcon's crews, as well as all the subs that Marcon contracts with. The professionalism, friendliness and quality of workmanship is the best I have seen. I have had numerous dealings over the years with contractors and subs and to be honest this was the smoothest and most enjoyable project yet - Marcon came highly recommended and I can see why!!! I will recommend them to anyone I come across - thank you Mark and crew for turning our dreams into reality and giving us the home we dreamed of - A JOB VERY WELL DONE AND APPRECIATED!!!

We just had a kitchen renovation and addition completed by Marcon and are thrilled with the outcome. Very professional job, the workers were great and everything was done very professionally. I would highly recommend this company to others and would not hesitate to use them again on future projects. Great job guys!!!

Having performed contractor duties on previous personal projects, we understand the complexities and pitfalls of home renovation. Marcon submitted a detailed estimate that doulbled as a job flow timetable, which is very helpful. As with any reno, there were mistakes made, however, Marcon was quick to address & resolve quickly all mistakes and any other issues raised, to our complete satisfaction. Marcon's direct employees and the sub trades completed their jobs, quickly, to and above code requirements. In a word Marcon's people exude qualtiy. All draw requests were detailed and discussed to our complete satisfaction. The job was completed 2.5 months in advance of the original completion date. We are comfortable to recommend this company to our friends and family.

Oh boy, if this company is the "best" in the industry, this industry is in poor shape. Unprofessional trades, sloppy work, Do yourself a favour and do not hire this company. I did and I regret it very much.

We used Marcon for a kitchen renovation. Right from the beginning consultation with Mark we were impressed with the companies professionalism. Everyone who worked on our home did so with pride in their craft and dedication to doing the best possible job. Marcon stayed on the quoted budget, leaving no surprises after completion of the job. I would recommend this company to anyone!

We hired Marcon to do extensive exterior renovations to our home. While in many respects the overall quality was satisfactory, and Mark has the appearance of being helpful, understanding and sympathetic, in my opinion Marcon did not deliver on its contractual commitments. We hired Marcon based on their reputation for having worked in our neighborhood, and on some of our neighbors homes. When we signed our contract in the spring of 2008, we accepted their price without negotiation, and were told that our work would be finished in the fall. We made every payment on time in accordance with the contract, a large part of it in advance of the work. By fall the work had barely begun, and the cleanliness level was barely adequate. We picked up several hundred nails from the roofing job ourselves that had been left, and there is still debris on our roof. The exterior painting, while part of the contract, was unable to be finished because of the then cold weather, and we were promised that it would be carried out in the spring. Despite having Mark come by the house in the spring and promise to get on it, by August 10 we had not heard a word, and the remaining work was unfinished. When we finally lost patience and called him, we were advised that the painting that was written into our contract was now an extra, and would cost more money. While in the end, Mark offered to do it for free, it was only after a heated exchange. We declined as we didn't want them back on our premises. My advice, should you decide to use Marcon, is not to be as trusting as we were, hold back money until work is done, and if you are told it can't be done until some months in the future, find someone else because in the end you may have the same trouble we have experienced getting it completed. It will cost us more than $1000.00 to finish their work.
Addendum
Since posting my review of Marcon (Treadstone, Shoreacres) the work that was in dispute has been finished by Marcon, at their cost and to our satisfaction. After posting my review, Mark at Marcon contacted us and agreed to complete the outstanding matters. He was courteous and ultimately fair minded about our concerns and our work is now complete. While the ultimate timeliness of its completion was a problem, and the fact that we needed to go through some frank discussion prior to its completion, we are now satisfied that Marcon will honour its committments and is good company to deal with.
