Penfolds Roofing & Solar

I am grateful to Michael Schoeman of Penfolds Roofing. Michael and his team recently replaced the roof of my father’s house and workshop in Delta, BC. My father is elderly, hard of hearing, and easily confused, and I know little about roofing. Throughout the entire process, from initial bid to completion, Michael treated me and my father with honesty, compassion, patience, decency, and respect. I can’t say enough about how much I appreciate his good service to me, and to my father, in particular. I know that Michael is part of a team (and I am very thankful to everyone who did such good work building this roof), but I am most thankful that Michael Schoeman is the person who returned my initial phone call to Penfolds.

My husband saw Penfolds' eco-friendly roofing product (from recycled tires) at a home show a couple of years ago. When it was time to replace our 23 year old cedar shingle roof, we did want an environmentally conscious product. The fact that it would also last 50 or more years certainly added additional sway to our decision.

We were indeed very pleased with the new roof. It looked much like a shingles roof, even though I picked a lighter shade of colour. The installation took 4.5 days to complete, as there was some rain on the 4th day. Joey & his two other crew members who did our roof were very professional, methodical, and punctual. They were also very helpful whenever I had questions re: the roof and its installation and had kept me informed of what was happening. It was also reassuring that others from Penfolds--including our salesperson, Michael Schoeman--would come to check on things on the 1st day, during the middle, and then at the end of the roofing project.

I would definitely recommend Penfolds because the staff is professional and knowledgeable, ie: upgraded building codes, colour longevity of tiles, etc. Even though their pricing maybe a little bit more, it is well worth it with the proper products and well-qualified people.

We were in the market for a new roof and loved the idea of a rubber shingle. (Our old roof was made of cedar shakes.) We looked at a number of products, and none of them looked "real".

We were always under the impression that Penfolds was expensive. Upon receiving an estimate from Michael, we were both very surprised. Not only did they carry a rubber shingle that looks almost like cedar shake, their pricing was very competitive. Penfolds' warranties are also pretty great.

We also found out the next day that our old roof leaked like crazy. Michael and Ron came out right away to tarp our roof.

We had to wait a number of weeks for work to finally start, but have to say, we are extremely happy with the final product. Unfortunately, the crew was dirty (Michael and Ron did their best to clean up their mess) and did break a very large skylight during installation. (Michael and Ron got us a new replacement very quickly.)

We do still have some issues with the replacement skylight, but have no anxieties: we know Michael will get back to us.

Would recommend this company in a heartbeat: they are communicative, clear, and provide timely customer service.

After all the rain this winter it was apparent I needed a new roof. I got a couple of quotes and while Penfolds wasnt the lowest, i went with them because of their reputation of standing behind their work and the fact that they have been in business for over 70 years. I spoke with a new neighbour who recently got a Penfold roof after moving in and before making my decision I asked him why. It turns out that the previous owner put a new roof on 2 years before selling. A leak developed which the new owners discovered only after some interior damage was done. The new owner went after the roof installer to honour the warranty only to find that the numbered company was no longer in business. That made my decision very easy, and now that my new roof is on, I'm glad I went with Penfolds.
The crew showed up on schedule, and worked diligently from dawn to dusk for 3 days and completed the roof replacement, including some unplanned scope to resolve issues discovered once the old shingles were removed.
While Penfolds stands behind their work, a huge factor in the quality of the roof you get is based on the crew. Make sure you ask for Roderick and his team, as they were outstanding.

When our roof was in need of replacement, I contacted Penfolds. I was familiar with the quality of work that Penfolds did from another experience, and had no questions about who to call. While you can find cheaper options, the quality of the workmanship, product and service makes it worthwhile. We intend on living in our house for a while, and wanted to make sure we had a good job done. We were not disappointed.

At all levels of the process; from the consultation with Jason, to the actual installation headed up by Roderick. Everything was done just right. They took the time to carefully go over the process, provided a solution to resolve a dripping problem on an overhang we previously had and then were able to quickly schedule the project in.

The crew was very fast and professional - all done in 3 days! They took pride in their work and showed that they cared about the client. Roderick even came early the last morning to finish up because it looked like it may rain that day.

I have no hesitation in recommending Penfolds.

When we started on the hunt for a roofing company, there were a lot of companies to look through. My husband though, said he wanted Penfold's because they've been around so long and have a really good reputation. When we were hit by that incredible storm that ripped multiple shingles off our roof, I called Penfold's and Michael called us back. He was so helpful and informative. They sent someone to do a repair job while we were waiting for dryer weather and a crew to do the whole roof. The re-roofing went smoothly, the crew were hard-working and conscientious and it was such a relief not to have to worry about it because I knew we could relax and trust the job to be done right. It looks great, we're very pleased, and and will definitely recommend them to others.

We are very pleased with the professionalism of the entire Penfolds team. Michael was in touch throughout the whole process and always returned calls and emails promptly. Ron and the crew did a great job. The quality of the roof and of the service was worth the price, which was exactly as estimated. I highly recommend their services.

This is the worst company for customer service. We were having problems with a sky light and with some recent renovations our contractor discovered that the sky light does not have any drainage holes and that there was moisture. We phone Penfold and spoke to someone at Penfold who basically gave us the run around and the last message we received was that we had to go after the manufacture to get them to repair it when Penfold put the unit in as part of our contract when they did our roof . During the time that they were putting in our roof, there was a day that the worker forgot to properly cap the perimeter and that night we had water gushing into three areas of our house. They had the nerve to say that we needed to go after the carpenter even though Penfold had hired this person. Our experience has not been positive and would not recommend this company.

Thank you for rectifying this issue. The miscommunication was not on our part but we are happy and satisfied that it will be resolved.

I just wanted to say that we are very pleased with our new roof. You guys had our old roof removed and replaced with the new one in three days. Just one day before a major lower mainland downpour. It was a really good feeling to be looking out the window at that rain, drinking a warm coffee and knowing that we were covered.

Your follow up was great too as your final inspector came by and made sure everything was just right.

We have been referred by some friends (highly recommended) to use Penfolds Roofing when, we started looking for some quote. We have to admit from Adam, our sales representative, Scott, Michael to the workers, we have been impressed by the level of professionalism. Being available to any questions that home owner would have or any concerns on one of the biggest expenses on your home, we felt confident that Penfolds was the right choice with no hesitation.
We choose a metal roof due to our type of roof, the job took 2 days and an half, it was done professionally and the finish product looks amazing. If it is time to change your roof, do not hesitate, Penfolds is the right company to deal with, thank you for your work.
