Bathroom renovations

We highly recommend Plumbing Mart for bathroom renovations. We had our main bathroom, ensuite and powder room updated and the main bathroom had to have a wall removed to enlarge the room. Mark Noonan was very knowledgeable and professional. As well, his designer, Preet was very helpful with the wall paint colours.

The work was completed to our satisfaction in one month Kevin, the installer was very efficient, tidy and conscientious. His skills were top rate.

We can say with confidence that if you use Plumbing Mart in Mississauga, you will be very pleased.

Kitchen and bathroom renovation

I rarely take the time to offer on-line reviews, but Mark Noonan from Plumbing Mart asked me to take a few minutes and comment about the services I received from him and his team at Plumbing Mart. When I searched reviews on Plumbing Mart I was shocked to find so many nasty ones. When I read them however, it was pretty easy to determine that most of them were either fake or they were posted by mean people – the kind who troll the web these days hiding behind their computers. Myself, I am in the car business, and I know that our company has the deal with these crazies all the time. Anyway back to topic. Plumbing Mart has done renovation on two separate properties for me and they were both fantastic. The first one was for a house that I owned with my husband. We needed to get our ensuite bathroom renovated and we went throughout the process of checking out some different contractors. Plumbing Mart came recommended by a friend. Out of all the companies they were the only ones who supplied product and labour – and took responsibility for the entire project. We could deal with them, in our house and at their showroom and we didn’t have to go anywhere else. The other companies didn’t have showrooms and they wanted us to go to the big box to pick our product – yuck! Also, Plumbing Mart put everything in writing and they offered a 5 year warranty, which meant a lot to us. The project went very smooth and we were very happy with the results. About 3 years later, my husband and I went through a divorce. I found myself (and the Sally the cat) starting over again. With my share of the equity in the house, I was able to buy myself a nice condo in good area of town. However, it needed some work. I called Mark Noonan from Plumbing Mart and asked for his input. Mark came out and spent considerable time with me going through the options available to me and what could and would not work with my budget. My next appointment was back at his showroom about a week later and he had everything prepared for me just the way I wanted it. The price final price for the kitchen and the bathroom renovation was not cheap – but it was going to make my new condo the fresh start I was looking for, and it was a fair cost. I also got another quote from another company, but I didn’t feel as safe with them as I did with Plumbing Mart. It’s a good thing too because my condo board required the contractor to have the right insurance and WSIB to work in the building. Plumbing Mart had all of their paperwork readily available – and the other company never got back to me when I requested their’s – a real warning bell. I submitted all of Plumbing Mart's information to my condo board and I had no problem getting they approval. The two projects turned out looking great and I couldn’t be happier. This is a good company and they are good people. I would definitely recommend them and work with them again.

Flooring and Painting

We had been living in Canada for about 3 years when we finally found ourselves in a position to be able to buy our first home. This was a huge step for us – we were nervous and excited at the same time. The most important thing about our home choice was location. We wanted to be in the right school district for our son. Of course it seemed that everyone else wanted to live there too – so home prices were more than we really wanted to spend. We finally found the right house – but it was going to need work. Being new home owners, we really didn’t know where to start or what to do first. We had a very limited budget and we wanted to have a starting point and stage our renovations over the next few years to come. We contacted a bunch of contractors, but when we met Mark Noonan from Plumbing Mart, we knew we’d found the right guy. Mark was very honest and upfront with us. He spoke to us realistically about our budget. He listened very closely to our thoughts and dreams and then he offered very good advise for our starting point. We ended up having Mark and his crew do our hardwood floors (Complete with new sub floors), and paint the house top to bottom. He also fixed a few structural problems created by a previous contractor. We had really been thinking about doing either the kitchen or one of the bathrooms – and can you believe it, the guy from Plumbing Mart talked us out if it…..lol. He educated us that our budget wasn’t enough to build either of these projects to our level of expectation, and by doing the floors and the painting we really made a huge impact on the overall look of the home and the living space for our family to enjoy. Now when we walk in the front door at night after work, we feel happy and proud of our home. The kitchen and the bathrooms will need updating down the road, and you can be sure that we’ll call Mark back for those projects as well – but for now they function just fine and we ended up spending our renovation budget on the right project.

Kitchen renovation & 3 Bathroom renovations

My wife and set about looking for a contractor for a fairly complex kitchen renovation in early 2014. Our first step was to do as much research on the web as we could. Talk about confusing. We knew the 3 or 4 companies that we wanted to talk with about our renovation plans - but when we went to sites like Home Stars and others - the reviews were all over the map. After much follow up and research we realized that many of these reviews were staged. Either by another company's competitor or just a client who was a mean person and took a small issue and made it into something grander. We realized that any "0" rating should not be regarded, and conversely most "10" rating were to be taken with a grain of salt as well. These were likely posted by a family member or friend. And so we ventured into the uncertain world of which contractor to pick and why. We initially called 4 companies (all with good and bad reviews across the web). Only 3 of these companies actually showed up to our home for an initial consultation. Of these, only 1 company was on time and did not re-schedule. That professionalism meant a lot to us. When we initially contacted Plumbing Mart we were treated very well over the phone by the person who took our information. The two folks from Plumbing Mart showed up on time and they were very Knowledgable and professional. The first meeting in our home took over 2 hours and Mark Noonan and his Designer, Harpreet spent a lot of time with us reviewing all of our renovation requirements. They seemed very focused on he renovation "we" wanted. This was different than the other two companies we met with. We felt they weren't listening to us and that they were pushing "their" renovation ideas on us rather than our vision. After the first meeting we then had a follow up meeting at the Plumbing Mart store in Mississauga. Mark and Preet had created a very thorough and comprehensive presentation for us. It covered everything from all products to labour to incidentals that were required. It was a "turn key" renovations with no surprises. The other two contractors each came back to our home to present - they had no showroom. Each of them re-schedule the appointment at our home and we found this a misuse of out time. None the less, we wanted the hear and see what they had to offer so we went through the process. Neither of these quotes were as complete as Plumbing Mart's so we had some reservations about how things might end up. We really didn't want any surprises. Also, we weren't sure if they could live up to their promises. One of the companies was much less expensive than Plumbing Mart's quote. The price was attractive, but it just didn't seem right. The other company was probably 10% more expensive - but they didn't offer the same program Plumbing Mart did. Our final problem in deciding were the various reviews on the web - Home Stars was a good source. We asked each company to give us a couple of references and only Plumbing Mart and the higher priced company were willing to do this. After speaking with 2 clients from each company we chose Plumbing Mart. It seemed they delivered as advertised without any major issues - (we all know renovations have issues). The references were very satisfied, and they were clients who had recent work done. The second company provide one reference from two years ago, and the other reference didn't inspire total confidence. In the end we were very satisfied with the finished project. It took about a week and a half longer than originally planned - because there were a few surprises , but Plumbing Mart dealt with them with no additional cost to us. We also asked for a few changes and those were billed to us at a fair cost. All is all we were very happy, things ran smooth, and their payment plan was by far the most accommodating. The other companies required so much $$$ up front that we were a bit nervous. Plumbing Mart took little bits along the way. Since this project went well, we had Plumbing Mart do a bathroom renovation for us in the late summer. This was a good experience as well. I have also had them renovate 2 "lower end" renovations in 2 of my rental properties and they were in and out without complications. These renovations were very different than our high end kitchen, but they were perfect for a rental situation. We didn't spend a lot of money, but they were built to be durable. As a home owner, it's very hard to pick a contractor these days. All I ca say is don't believe everything you see. Talk to references for your best feedback and you will get what you pay for.

Shower Door Installation

Stay away from this company at all cost. Paid half the fee on November 1, 2013 and up to June 2014 the job was not done. They don't have licenced plumbers and both Mississauga & Burlington are owned by the same guy (Mark). It was a horror storey. Got just over $600 back after threating law suit. I though I was going out of my mind. Don't use Plumbing Mart at all and stay away from Cathy and Colleen, they don't know anything. Thanks for Fleurco and Bathrrom & Kitchen Gallery for all of their help. This company is a total ripoff and unprofessional!!

Bathroom Renovation

We engaged Plumbing Mart in Mississauga to renovate our bathroom. As described below, they were completely incompetent. When they first arrived to demolish the existing bathroom, they did not have a drop cloth, or a vacuum cleaner. They knocked a hole in the adjourning room wall and broke a stud. The subcontractor was slow and unsupervised. He arrived in mid-morning and generally left by midafternoon. Management did not provide adequate staffing, direction or guidance to the subcontractor.

This disaster started shortly after we entered into a contract to renovate our bathroom. This was a serious decision since we only have one bathroom. Plumbing Mart was well aware that timing was of the essence. They were also aware that we were having about 40 guests over on Christmas Eve. We paid the deposit in Sept 2013 and expected to start and finish the project in November/early December 2013. On Nov 2, Steve, the project manager demanded progress payment 1 (due 5 days prior to commencement), although commencement did not start until four weeks later (November 29)

On November 29, the sub-contractor arrived without the proper equipment to do the demolition. Specifically, he had no drop cloth, nor cleaning tools. While he did put down paper from a roll, the fact is crushed gypsum slides off of paper readily. You can well imagine the mess he made of our recently installed new. He wanted to leave the old tub in the upstairs hall. Fortunately, since he never came back for a week, I persuaded him otherwise and helped him carry it down. Plumbing Mart made no effort to adequately staff the job.

The next day, Steve showed up and demanded Progress Payment 2 (required after 50% completion). At this time, we had received 3 hours of labour, the garbage was not removed, but rather strewn around our garage, and we had no product on site. He claimed that Materials and Products were 60% of the contract value, except we had no materials or products on site. In other words, we would gladly have paid them if they had supplied the product and materials that we had already paid for.

A few days later, another sub-contractor appeared on site, argued with Steve and left before doing any work.

On Dec 4, one week after the demolition, another subcontractor appeared to remove the debris from the garage (he had to use our brooms to clean up the mess, since he didn’t bring his own) and deliver some product (tub, tiles grout, some boards, etc.) which he dropped off in the garage. Estimated product value would be in the order of $1000). This was the only product delivered to our house.

On Dec 5 the original subcontractor showed up in mid-morning and worked for part of the day. He required my help to carry the tub upstairs. We again had to vacuum up after him. In attempting to install the tub by himself, he cracked and then had to cut a section out of an existing wall stud, which he subsequently jury rigged with a piece of plywood. He also knocked a hole through the wall into the hallway.

Dec 6, the original subcontractor arrived in mid-morning and worked part of the day, since he ran out of materials that Steve, the manager was supposed to deliver earlier that day. The subcontractor did not know about the alcove that was planned for the tub area and had not installed studs for this. Nor had he installed studs in the appropriate position to install grab rails. In other words, management of the project was inept. He left gaps of ½” in so-called vapour barrier wall board in the tub area. Although the tub was installed, it was not level. There is a 1” drop down the length of the tub. New vapour barrier wallboard was not supplied throughout and scrap ends were used to fill up some parts.

Steve, the manager arrived one hour after the sub-contractor left (with no materials) and demanded the next payment. He threatened to shut down the job. At this point the company had more than 55% of the project paid for and had only supplied 15% of the contract terms. In other words, they were ahead almost $5,000. Steve, the project manager, agreed that he would deliver the remaining products and materials on Saturday and I would go to the store to make the next payment. The next payment would result in Plumbing Mark being Paid 90% of the total project value, although only 15%supply, without the accompanying supply of products (toilet, vanity, sink, etc.)

Dec 7, the subcontractor arrived at 10:30 to complete the alcove framing and install the rest of the vapour board in the tub area. He did not bring new materials to replace the scraps of wall board that were used. Steve called at 11:00 to say he could/would not deliver products on Saturday. In my opinion, It was evident from his remarks that the rest of the product was not in Plumbing Marts warehouse and that they were unable to deliver. I agreed that Monday would be ok and payment would be made on Monday.

At 11:30 Mark, the President of Plumbing Mart spoke, by phone, to my wife Evelyn, demanding payment. He said that he would accept partial payment. Evelyn repeated my statement that so far Plumbing Mart had only supplied 15% of product and labour, but had already receive 55% of the payment. She also re-iterated our earlier comments of delivery on Sat, full payment on Sat, delivery on Mon, and payment on Monday. Mark confirmed that the product was not on his site. At that point He verbally abused her and attempted to bully her on the phone. When this didn’t work he said “I can’t deal with this {expletive}” and hung up.

The subcontractor was ordered off the job at 11:45. He was gone by 12:00. He had not completed the alcove or the wallboard. He did not clean up the site, nor remove the project waste from the tub and the garage. Again, we had to clean and vacuum up after him.
After several exchanges of emails, On Dec 18, I contacted Mark to enquire about a resolution. He replied that he “is not interested in working with us”.

With only seven days before Christmas, no bathroom, and houseguests planned for the holidays, we had no alternative but to complete the project using other means. The contractor that we engaged to finish the project arrived early in the mornings, worked for several full days and sometimes well into the evenings. He corrected Plumbing Mart’s inadequacies and finished the project on time, on budget and in a completely professional manner. Every day, they arrived with proper drop clothes and cleaned up after themselves. They did discover and remove a bunch of Silicone that was put down the tub drain. There is no reasonable explanation of why silicone was put down the drain in the first place.

In summary, Plumbing Mart, under the direction of Mark, the President, left the house 2 ½ weeks before Christmas, with no bathroom, having supplied less than $2,000 in product, materials and Labour, but been paid $6,800.

Ordered towel rack

HAVEN'T CHANGED ATTITUDE IN 25 YEARS!. Worst customer service around. I ordered a hotel towel shelf from them. After waiting 6 weeks and constantly calling to find out where it was (supposed to take 2 weeks) I finally cancelled the order. THEY DON'T CALL YOU. They say they will "call someone" to see where it is and then never get back to you, EVER. STAY AWAY!

Kitchen Renovation

Stay away from this company at all costs! I don't even know where to begin with these guys. If you have the time, nerves, and money to deal with them then go ahead. We hired them a couple of years back, and let me just say good riddance! Please reconsider before you take them on.

Bathroom Reno

My poor, old parents hired these guys. They are terrible. Insanely overpriced to start, but went through with them anyway. Once they started work: a complete joke. Sent guys to work on the project and they had no ideas what the plan was. Their guy comes and works for about 2 hours a day and then leaves. Unbelievably slow. They send in their electrician and he spends half the time cursing because nothing was ready for him. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.
