Service

Dishonest!

Deceitful Sales tactic.

Sales people deceived me about being officials from Enbridge. They said they need to enter my home to inspect the equipment and make sure they are to code.

Will never go with this company.

Hot water tank

Recently purchased a home with tank from Ontario consumers in it. As a contractor and home inspector I noted the significant rust around the intake and the venting into an unlined chimney which you could see through the mortar cracks. The lack of a gas tag on it also left me quite concerned as to who actually installed this setup and why it was in such rough shape.

I called and expressed my concerns and they sent a tech out to look at it. He agreed that the rust was an issue and dismissed my concerns about the chimney and lack of a gas tag.

I waited a couple days to let them get back to me on a solution. I had to call them and tried to find out how we can get a proper tank that isn't a safety concern. I was told that if I wanted a proper tank installed that I would have to buy out the rest of the ten year contract. The buyout was $1200 dollars. In addition to that I would have to pay more to have a new one installed. The actual price to buy the exact same tank brand new is $580.

We have had the home for two weeks and I'm still waiting for them to call me back with a solution. (They said they were going to call me back a week ago)

Extremely disappointed in the service and more so the lack of hot water. It has been two weeks since our first contact and we still don't have a solution in sight. It has become a joke in our basement with all of our friends, family and contractors.

If they ever come to your door. DO NOT get coerced into signing a contract with this company. This has been the most disappointing part of our new home. Shame on Ontario consumers for not resolving an UNSAFE and potentially DEADLY issue.

Oh, and Ontario Consumers, call me back like you promised last week.

Water Filter

OCHS came to our house practically forced the sale of a furnace and a/c on us. Then their sales people came back a few weeks later and started a sales pitch about a water filter. Claiming that we would have softer skin, hair, nice nails...etc. we would be using less soap, no need to buy water filters(Brita) They never went over the agreement, in fact they didn't want us to read it!! We signed after they coerced us into doing so. Now it has not even been 3 months only 2 and less than 3 weeks, and we are seeing white film on our pots after we boil the water now what the heck is this? Called on many occasions only to have them send someone out but they told us nothing was wrong. They are sending someone out again tomorrow, a "senior tech", we asked them to remove the system they told us we would have to buy it out. Why?!?! what happened to 30-90 days? For reading all the other complaints about this company I am very disappointed with this company. Never would I recommend them... just opposite actually!!! Still never received my rebate of $600 from the Gov for the furnace/ a/c their sales people have no integrity.

Hot Water Tank

Their sales representative came to my door last year, told me that my Direct Energy tank was very old and their tank would be much more efficient and a bunch of other claims which I later realized were not true, I told him that I was going to demolish the old house and he said it wouldn't matter and they would remove the tank as soon as I decide to start the construction. He asked me to sign something which he claimed was just an authorization form just for replacing Direct Energy's tank with their owns, when I told him that I would like to read it before signing, he said that it wasn't necessary and he would explain all the important parts of the document to me. I trusted him and signed the paper, now after one year I realized that it was a crazy unfair 120 months agreement and now they are asking me to buyout the rest of the contract for $2000 in order to remove the tank from my property, and of course, the tank itself worths $600! I am going to make a claim in Ontario Small Claims Court, their whole sales operation is unfair and fraud. Just Google their name and you'll find out who they are.

Hot Water Tank Installation

Great Sales Rep, Great Installers. Called customer service to ask about the the "Free" rental period only to find out that the customer continues to pay previous supplier until Ontario Consumers decides to return your old tank (which could take the whole Free period or longer).
Filled complaint with BBB for two reasons 1) If you are going to advertise a free rental period, it should commence once you are no longer being billed (ie. once the tank is dropped off and previous account closed) 2) the customer service rep I spoke with (Warren) told me he would add another free month in good faith to ensure I have a free month once tank is received by Direct Energy. Accepted his offer, called back, and found out it was a bogus offer to get me off the phone. Paying $3000 for a $800 tank, I would expect more in the way of customer service!

Water Heater

Best service ever!
A guy came to my door and offered to check my water heater. They upgraded it for free and I was EXTREMELY satisfied with their service. We got a free upgrade to a glass lined tank, so I no longer have to worry about my older tank leaking or any issues like the water taking too long to heat up.
The guy was extremely friendly, and he left his number and actually phoned me back after the installation took place to follow up that it all went well.
They also told me I had an unlimited service (maintenance), but so far the tank is great and I have not needed it.
I am also considering getting a furnace from them since they were so friendly and helpful.
I highly recommend their glass lined water tank, since it did save me money on gas, and heated my water MUCH faster.

Hot water tank and furnace

Horrible service :( Wish I had read the reviews before I signed up. Five months later and they have still not returned my other hot water tank which I am still being billed for... Five months and counting. After countless calls and follow-ups, being told that it was returned and not to trust what the other company was telling me, that I am putting too much "faith" in the other company... I was finally informed today (after I asked again) that my hot water tank has still not yet been returned. Then when I became upset, the individual on the phone asked "What's the big deal?". Customer service is completely lacking. I have requested that all my recorded calls be reviewed and that a manager finally call me... Wish I could turn back time and NOT go with this company. Don't make the same mistake I did.

Hot Water Tank Rental

I wish I could give them less than zero!!! These people came to us as we were moving into our new home, we were right in the middle of unloading the moving van, I mean really! They couldn't have waited a week until we had settled in a bit? We came from an older home where we had an oil furnace and an owned hot water tank. They led us to believe they were with Enbridge! Sadly we were like sheep, and they caught us in a weak moment, moving after 22yrs in the same house was just a tad stressful. My husband showed them in, they looked at the equipment and suggested we go to a smaller tank to save money. Now I totallly blame myself, it's the old adage, "don't sign until you read everything" . Well they came back 2 days later with the new tank, changed it, and had us sign what we now know was a big mistake. The total payments are $2,158.80, but the fine print (AND THERE WAS TONS OF IT!) on the back says that if you want to buy out, you owe the cost of the equipment based on fair market value PLUS the outstanding monthly payments. That is huge!! At our old house, we bought a hot water heater from one of the big box home reno stores for $500. and it came with a 6 year warranty! This was approx 8 yrs ago, and we never had to have it serviced. If I could go back I would have never let these people in the door. Of course, they called 2 weeks later to see if we were happy, and after finally having time to look at the situation, I told them I was not and how do I cancel? "sorry ma am' you had 10 days to cancel, that time has gone by" If they were truly concerned whether or not we were happy they would have called within the 10 days, but they didn't, they called after the window of opportunity to cancel was closed.

hot water heater

I had these people install a tank on january 26 2012, they also tried to charge me extra for a difficult installation until I informed them I was a plumbing contractor,
it took almost 4 months of phone calls to finally pay what I agreed on in contract and to this day I still have not received my free months rental after numerous phone calls and promises
I have informed them to come and pull the tank out as in my mind they are in default of contract, so I will wait for response from them. LOL
