Renovation Experts / Basement Experts

We used Basement Experts for our basement renovation from start to finish in 2013. We had a very tight timeline as we were expecting our second child very soon, and the company worked really hard to be finished by the time we needed them to be done. Stan was very friendly and had plenty of suggestions for us to make the most of our space, and Ed and all the crew worked very hard and provided great quality work. Would definitely use them for any future work we might do on our house.

We were very impressed with Stan from our first meeting. He had great suggestions and advice and took time to talk with us. Our dream kitchen turned out even better than we had hoped, and was on budget. There was a delay of a few weeks waiting for materials. However we were pleased with Stan and would certainly use his services again. We can highly recommend him.

Stan and his crew were a pleasure to deal with. The project was pretty much on-budget, despite the inevitable surprises we found when the work began in earnest (we have an older home in the City). Stan was receptive to making changes to work along the way and we definitely got the impression that our happiness was his top concern. I would wholeheartedly recommend him to others and would use him again myself in the future.

Stan and his crew did a great job finishing our basement and we are very happy with the final results. Stan is friendly, honest, reliable, patient, and accessible. His crew is a great group of individuals who we found to be trustworthy, hard working, and pleasant to deal with.
When searching for a contractor, Basement Experts was not the cheapest bid, however Stan impressed us by the time he took to educate us on construction options/finishes and we were also impressed by the level of detail in his written contract. As business professionals, my husband and I were rarely able to be home during the weekdays and we appreciated Stan’s flexibility to meet with us on evenings and weekends.
The renovation itself went smoothly, with the occasional bump or misunderstanding that Stan was able to address and resolve in a timely manner. Any delay that was encountered was offset by the crew working weekends and we ultimately finished the reno just outside of our 5 week timeline. If I was to offer any constructive criticism, it would be that our expectations could have been managed better from the onset of the renovation and communication could definitely be improved between Stan, his Project Manager Edward, and the crew. That said, all communication issues were eventually resolved and in the end we got exactly what we asked for, for the price we had agreed on, within the timeline we expected.
We would definitely recommend Stan Boigon and his crew to our friends and family. We will keep them in mind for future renovations!

One of our biggest problems with our basement renovation project was the fact that we didn't know any contractor from a past experience. We talked to some “contractors” recommended by neighbours but we didn't feel right about them (they were like too informal for us). One day a co-worker mentioned to me about Homestars.com. I did a search and selected four of the contractors with good reviews. The first one on the list was “Basement Experts”. So, one night Stan came and he spent like 2 hours with us talking about the project and which options were available. Honestly it felt right to do the job with them. We saw the rest of the contractors I found on the Homestars.com site but we knew “Basement Experts” was the one. The quote was not the most expensive, neither the cheapest but it wasn't about the money. Stan transmitted a sense of Peace of Mind which we were looking for in a project like the basement renovation. He delivered what we agreed and they whole team went the extra mile with us. Stan, Edward, and the whole team were just great. It was exactly what I was looking for; I didn't need to be worry about who was coming to do what. Stan and Edward were in control on the execution of the project. We were watching different crew of people going back and forth according to the work required. Everything happened according to the plan and the same way Stan mentioned. No surprises, no extra cost. I'm so happy because finally we found a group of professionals that I can count-on for this type or work. Even more than that, Stan provided some contacts for other professionals I need for other work. I will recommend this company over and over. They are the right option if you want to have peace-of-mind on your renovations.

From our first meeting we were impressed with Stan Boigon. Other contractors who we called for a quote all seemed in hurry. Stan spent a great deal of his own personal time to discuss the scope of the project with my husband and I (without him knowing at the time if we would give him the job!)

He provided us with a detailed written quote. He co-ordinated all aspects of the project and used qualified licensed professionals (electricians, plumbers, etc.) who arrived as scheduled. Stan kept us informed of what was happening and when. He returned all phone calls and emails. All work was completed on time and for the amount agreed upon.

We have now have a beautiful new kitchen that truly can be featured in a magazine.

I contacted a number of different Contractors to see about getting quotes to have the construction of my home theater project. I spent a lot of time investigating how to build a home theater, proper sound proofing, shape of the room, etc.

Stan Boigon came over and then sent me a quote. The quote was extremely detailed, and everything we discussed was outlined in the quote, including the timing of payments during the course of the project. I was very impressed. The price of the quote was very reasonable, and Stan promised to have the theater built before the Super Bowl.

Every contractor (framer, electrician, dry waller, taper, painter and carpet installer) that came over was amazing and very professional. I was very impressed with the quality of work completed and they all showed up on the days they were supposed to. Even when we had to make changes to the original plan, the additional costs were reasonable.

Stan was on top of the project, and kept me informed of who and when they were coming to the house. The theater was finished 1 week ahead of plan. It is an amazing room, and we have enjoyed using the room every day since.

I would not think twice about using Basement Experts again for any other project, because I couldn't be happier with the work and customer service I received.

Stan and the crew finished our unfinished basement on schedule and within budget. We were pleased with their professionalism and the quality of their work. Stan's quote was very detailed and he provided a daily schedule and kept it updated throught the project.
We had a new living area and full bath installed as well as refinishing the stairs. The unfinished floor started out seriously uneven but they were able to work around the problem without breaking the bank. I highly recommend Basement Experts.
