When I discovered a leak from my roof, I used home stars to find a reputable company quickly. Mr Roof Repair got back to me very quickly, explained their procedures and charges in detail and clearly followed up by an email with the same information. The young man who came out to check my roof was courteous, efficient and explained my problem with accompanying photos. He also checked my neighbors roofs as I am In a townhouse. Unfortunately for me, my roof required more than a simple repair but again everything was handled efficiently, courteously and expeditiously. I especially appreciated the thorough reports sent to me with lots of photos as it was the only way I could actually see the damage and the repair. I would definitely recommend this company .

After another roofing company kept me on the hook for weeks without showing up, I finally called Mr Roof Repair in desperation. They came quickly, did a very thorough evaluation which turned up many more related issues than the original evaluation by the no-show company, and then fitted me in for the repair work within a couple of days. It was a bigger job than I'd expected because there was much more that needed work than I'd thought, but I was very pleased with the thorough and speedy work.

Quoted, arranged and delivered seamlessly. The technician even inspected the roof and did minor sealing work as required. Everything that I could have asked for from a contractor. Thanks for the great work.

We had water damage to various spots on the wooden trim around the front porch. Pools of water were obvious on the porch after a heavy rain so I called Mr Roof Repair to conduct an assessment since it wasn't obvious to my husband and I where the water was originating from. They promptly came within days and provided their assessment of the issues as well an estimate for the work. The repair was to correct some previous poor installations including the lack of appropriate starter shingles and the location of the eavestrough. We were coordinating this work with that of a painter and Michael was very understanding of this requirement. When I told him that the painter was done he quickly scheduled our work since we were without an eavestrough in place after the painting was complete. Pietro was assigned to our work and was very helpful and patient as we selected our new eavestrough and downspout colors. Pietro took the time to show us the damage under the shingles and explained all the steps in the process to fix it. We were very pleased with the work and have had the chance to test out our new repairs with the recent rainstorms. Very happy to report that we no longer have water leaks on our front porch. :). The person that cleans my eavestrough in the fall noticed shingles missing on the SW corner of our house leaving our roof exposed to rain. I looked on Homestar and else where for contractors. There are not very many roofing contractors who will do small repairs. Mr RoofRepair was one of two that would give me a quote. The quotes were identical so I chose Mr. RoofRepair because of how personable they were, the speed at which they replied and their reviews on Homestar. The repair took less than an hour with roof inspection. I received pictures and video verifying repair. I am totally satisfied with the work completed.

I was told by my bathroom contractors to hire a roofer to install an exhaust vent. I called Mr Roof Repair and was quoted $385 + HST. It was the cheaper of two quotes I got, and with such a good reputation on Homestars I thought it was a sure bet.

The work was done on schedule, professionally, and the company was very professional and easy to deal with. I would use or recommend them for any future roof repair needs I hope not to have...

I contacted Mr. Roof Repair in regards to a leaky skylight. Michael was very quick to respond and sent out an employee to do an assessment. The assessor took pictures of the skylight and surrounding damaged shingles. He pointed out how the original skylight had been improperly installed which is why it was leaking. Soon after, Michael emailed a quote to me with two options: a venting skylight and a permanent skylight. We opted for the permanent skylight which was installed not long after. The new skylight has been through two rather fierce rainstorms and has held up well. It looks great, too. We are very please with the service and end result.

I was recommended Mr Roof Repair by my sister who had a stellar experience with them. My experience was less than perfect.

I contacted Mr roof repair via their online submission form and was promptly replied and told to contact Steve. I explained that I was missing 2 roof square tops (that I knew of) that needed replacing. We worked out that they would come out, do an inspection, which would include photos and inspection report, replace the caps, etc. for $350, based on similar service my sister had received (she was told a maintenance package for 1 year guaranteeing their work and all repairs within 1 hour).

Work was scheduled for the next day (excellent turnaround time) and I was told I would not need to be home (huge error on my part). *side note: I had gone up to a lower section of the roof previously to place the cap on the exposed vent so that, in case of rain, we would not have water damage.

When I returned home from work the next day, it looked like they had replaced 2 caps - one which I had known to have blown off, and one that I did not see. However, the cap that I placed on top of the vent had not been touched. It was clearly obvious, if inspected, that the cap was just sitting on top of the vent, since the clips had snapped. So I was doubtful that an inspection had been done. I was also not contacted with the report/inspection.

I contacted Mr Roof Repair and, long story short was told that I would have to pay an additional $200 (almost double my original cost) to have them come out an do the work they had originally agreed to do. We negotiated it down to $150, but I was not a happy camper. In fact, the conversation that I had with Steve was quite unpleasant. I am not a roof expert and explained to him that I expected a "full inspection" would catch any required repairs. If replacing 2 caps within an hour is possible, surely a 3rd would not take an additional hour, but I was essentially paying for the full hour of work (which was the minimum for them to come out). In addition, my guess is NO inspection was done on the first day as I did not receive any report or communications.

At the end of the day, lessons I have learned (probably generally applicable):
1) get the quote first before having them do ANY work
2) don't try and explain what you think is the problem (telling them there were 2 caps biased them to think that there was only 2?)

EDIT: Mike contacted me to try to sort out a couple of the issues we did not seem to agree on. 1) A bill was sent after the first time work was done, but I did not receive it (we'll just assume that I did). 2) I ended up being charged $90 that they normally charge for additional work. Had they told me that this would be the amount charged (on our phone discussion) rather than the required negotiation (which Mike also stated should not have happened since the amount for additional work was in the contract), I would've given Mr. Roof a better score. Bumped original score of 6 to 7 considering the work done was adequate.

We had a significant leak coming through the moulding in the front wall of our home that was starting to buckle and erode the plaster. A prior diagnosis and repair involved bricking in an old, rotting, round wood window, but after a while the leak problem just shifted to another part of the wall. We were particularly concerned as the first repair had uncovered carpenter ants in the wall.

We are not handy, but put two and two together and figured we must have a problem with the roof. Unfortunately we were then unsuccessful getting any roofing firms to come look, as everyone we contacted failed to call us back after finding out we weren't interested in replacing our entire roof.

Then we found Mr. Roof Repair. Thank goodness. They came immediately and figured out the problem in 5 seconds. When we bought the house it had a modular top floor addition, and Mr. Roof Repair quickly diagnosed shoddy, unfinished roof work from that time - improper/lack of flashing and sealant, and actual gaps they could see where wood was exposed and water was running into the wall.

We were particulary impressed because:
- they came immediately
- they figured out the problem right away
- they told us the rest of the roof was in great shape and didn't try to sell us any additional services or repairs
- they did an immediate temporary fix right before a major rain storm that worked right away
- they came back soon after to do the permanent repairs
- all costs were identified clearly and up front - first for the service call, and then before the final repair
- some of the money paid for the initial service call was applied to the final repairs
- we were sent detailed photos of the many problems on the roof, and step-by-step photos of the repairs

I'm very impressed as it seems really hard to encourage people to come out for relatively minor but critical repairs. This is a professional, top notch specialist shop and if I ever have a problem with the roof again I will call them immediately.
