Perimeter drainage cleanout

Similar experience to other satisfied customers here, I called Drainrock because I had some water enter my home crawlspace after last year's atmospheric River in BC.
I called them and Bob came out to look at my property and gave me an honest assessment of the problem. We scheduled his crew and when they arrived they were very polite and professional. They flushed the system and located my buried sump, which was clogged with sediment. Like other reviewers, I too had called another local plumbing company and they quoted $40,000 to replace my drainage system based on a cursory site inspection. Glad I called Drainrock as they found the problem and cleaned out the system so it will properly again.

Thank you!!

Company Response

Unfortunately after the atmospheric river we heard from many customers that other plumbing and drainage companies were providing rough estimates over the phone without going to the site to assess. We have always felt that no matter how busy we are that we take the time to meet the customer, understand their concerns and create a plan to move forward. In most of the cases, a thorough service of hydro flushing and video inspection can remove dirt and debris that prevents water from flowing and solve the problem. All of us at Drainrock thank you for taking the time to share your experience.

crawlspace water ingress

I have had Bob out several times with an ongoing water ingress issue and was very satisfied with his direction of dealing with it (had another company before that I was definitely not happy with) He comes over asses the issue then we discuss a plan to remedy it. His communication skills are excellent and he forwards a quote with exactly the work he is going to perform in writing before it begins, this is an excellent idea as it ensures what it is being done before it begins. This also allows the customer to make an amendment to the work before being performed if needed. Had his son here doing the work and was equally satisfied with him as well. A great family business! So hard to find service like this these days...

Company Response

Thank you for taking time to share your experience with our company and crew. As with most homes, they can have ongoing water challenges and options can be to replace the perimeter drains at a substantial cost or have a regular maintenance plan. Regular maintenance removes debris and sediment from within the pipe and controls the elevation of the water table while ensuring water collected flows to a municipal connection. At Drainrock, we work to establish a plan based on customers needs while not compromising the quality of our work.

Happy to find this company!

We had perimeter drainage problems for years, and had been searching for a company to help us. Drainrock did some work for a neighbour and we asked them for a quote. Very knowledgeable and knew how to deal with our issues. Crew was efficient and helpful. Discovered we had several blockages which they dealt with. Problem solved. Will have them back in several years to do a follow up. Very happy customer.

All of us at Drainrock thank you for your kind words about our company. Having been in the industry for 30 years, we have worked in many areas around the lower mainland. The street you live on is well known to us for its poor soil conditions which are mainly clay based and heavily laden with iron. We have worked for 4 homeowners on your street and were very familiar with the challenges. Our crew uses specialty equipment to identify the problem, clean the perimeter drains and use our video inspection camera to ensure water flows. Regular maintenance will be required as the iron will be re-appear annually. We appreciate you sharing your experience with others.

Top Quality Service

I called Bob at Drainrock for two issues - a foundation crack with leakage into the basement in 2021. It required digging a trench down to the drain tiles. His communication skills and quality of work are impressive, as was his cleanup.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience about Drainrock and we are happy that it met your expectations. Foundation cracks are common sources of water ingress caused by minor settlement during the life of the home. We believe in a long-term solution with warranty that involves excavation, repair, sealing, and dimple board membrane over the repaired area. All of us at Drainrock thank you for your kind words.

Save money with Drainrock Industries!!!

I'm grateful to Bob, and his son, Justin, of Drainrock for their honesty. This company saved us thousands of dollars and did an excellent job of cleaning out the dirt from our 45-year-old clay tiles and flushed them
Drainrock Industries saved us thousands of dollars. We paid them $1500. to dig up holes at different sites on our perimeter and put down a camera to video what they saw. They gave us a thumb drive of the video, cleaned out the 45-year-old clay tiles and informed us they worked well.
This is in contrast to 2 major plumbing companies in the lower mainland that told us that our drain tiles were broken (they used a camera) and they had to be replaced. The companies gave us quotes of $24,000 and 30,000 and that's not counting the cost of replacing the concrete in our carport and driveway. I am so grateful to this family company that does not take advantage of seniors.

Thank you for taking the time to write about your experience with Drainrock Industries. We work hard to ensure that each and every customer are educated about their drainage system before deciding on how to repair or if a replacement is required. In your case, the original clay tile was partially clogged with soil and debris that was hydro jetted from the inside walls of the pipe. Once serviced, we used our video inspection camera to ensure the system was cleaned and water flowed into the sump and onto the municipal storm connection. Justin is not only our service foreman, but also my son which makes your kind comments about him so meaningful. From all of us at Drainrock Industries, we thank you.

Honest and professional

A family-run company that prides itself on honesty and integrity. Bob sincerely cares about solving drainage issues and empathizes with clients under stressful circumstances. He gave us a free overview of what would be involved with our problem and we felt assured that subsequent work would be done after a thorough exploration. His son, Justin and co-worker were prompt and worked diligently, explaining the process and results throughout. Our situation will require further work that we are confident will be done by Drainrock with as little disruption as possible. We have complete trust that the problem will be solved to our satisfaction. I highly recommend this company.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review of your experience with us. Working through the drainage exploration process often leads to a smaller scope of work by identifying areas of the existing drainage system that still work and others that require upgrades or repair. Our crew identified a section of drainage across the back of the home that requires excavation at a depth of over 7', which will be addressed in spring/summer during better weather months. Excavations can be dangerous and taking all safety precautions to ensure the safety of our crew is of the utmost importance.

Flooded Crawspace - Atmosphereic River

After a very negative experience with another company, I was referred to Drainrock Industries by a neighbour and was told I would be in very good hands. It was a very positive experience from the first time Bob came to my home until Justin and Austin had completed the job. They had found the sump within 10 minutes, the other company was unable to find it and suggested I hire someone else to find the sump and then call them back at an additional charge. I felt Justin and Austin honestly cared and were eager to find the source of my crawlspace flooding. They were very friendly and professional and did a great job right through to the cleanup. A Great Company! A Positive Experience! Thank you Drainrock Industies!!

During that last heavy rains, now called atmospheric rivers, thousands of homeowners had water ingress issues and turned to different companies to help solve their problems. We heard from many that had negative first experiences with other companies and found Drainrock as a second call. Panic often sets in when you find water in your home and you call the first company you can find, many of which are plumbers. We are a drainage specific company that only solves drainage related problems. We are not going to change a hot water tank, repair a furnace or install a sink. If you have a wet basement, damp crawlspace, musty odor or soggy yard, we have a drainage solution for you. Thank you Carol for taking the time and sharing your experience and thank you Dave for referring us. The referral from good person to good person is how we want to grow our business. Drainrock Industries thank you.

Drain Tile Installation

Drainrock owner Bob, had provided a free site visit and cost quote for a new drain tile installation, replacing the one that was part of my old house built in the 1920s. We also needed drainage troughs to protect our driveway and parking garage from heavy rain.

Bob was friendly and patient in answering my questions and explaining the details of the installation. A contract was then carefully drafted and later signed as I found the price reasonable, and the terms thorough; in contrast, two other companies who came in either wrote a vague contract or gave a price that was significantly higher and for less work. Drainrock’s contract was much more honest and professionally drafted.

Rylan and his crew took around two weeks to complete the installation. During that time, communication with the workers had been courteous; they had completed various stages of the installation efficiently, and cleaned the work site thoroughly afterwards. They were also flexible in taking additional requests including miscellaneous site debris removal which I really appreciated.

I could tell the workers really cared about the installation and took pride in their work because of their quality materials, workmanship and positive communication skills.

I highly recommend this company to everyone because they are honest and professional, and they provide quality performance at a reasonable price. It was a pleasure dealing with Drainrock Industries from start to finish.

Thank you for providing me with peace of mind following a quality installation and positive interaction with your staff–much appreciation.

Replacing your perimeter drain tile in entirety can be a large project, one that you need to get several quotes and be comfortable with the contractor you hire. We always meet and discuss the project, complete a drawing of the home and take lineal footage measurements in order to accurately provide a full written quotation. Most full drain tile replacement quotations are approximately 3 pages of specific information about your project and code requirements within your area. Once the contract has been accepted, we have a site meeting with our foreman to take over the project and complete exactly as stated and agreed in the quote. We thank you for taking the time to share your experience with Drainrock Industries and it was a pleasure to work with you on this large full drain tile replacement project.

Flooded Crawlspace

During the successive 'atmospheric river' rain storms (late November of 2021) my crawlspace flooded. We reached out to friends and neighbours for recommendations, and spent a lot of time on Google. As water in your crawlspace or basement is never good, and the source is typically underground, as a homeowner, it is difficult to know what the problem is and who to trust. We spent a lot of time on Google researching things we knew little about: drain tile systems, sumps, blockages and collapsed pipes. I also could not find the sump on my property and the City of Surrey file registry only had vague information (home was built in early 1980s).

We contacted a lot of drainage/plumbing companies and several said things like, "it is difficult to know...but it could cost from $15,000 to $80,000." Virtually every company wanted several $hundreds just to show up and/or charged for 'travel time', and would not be able to come for several days.

I discovered Drainrock Industries online and noted that they had excellent reviews. When I contacted the company (online), their response was within a couple of hours. I spoke with the owner (Bob) and he was calm and reassuring and he responded on a Saturday morning. He also wanted my address so that he could check for property plans (sewer and drainage utilities) from the City of Surrey. Bob was the only company contacted that took this extra step.

Drainrock foreman Rylan came to my home early on Monday morning and phoned me first to say that he was on the way. Rylan patiently listened to my concerns and began to manually probe for the sump and he found it within 10 minutes (note - I hired another plumber earlier and he could not find it, and was looking in such unlikely places that I asked him to leave early). With the concrete sump lid open, Rylan then diagnosed the problem and said he would be back the next day to flush line that ran from my property to the City storm system, and run his camera through the lines. He explained that he would also flush my entire draintile system. Rylan called later the same day and said he could fit me in that same afternoon as another job in the area had finished earlier than expected.

Rylan and Justin arrived exactly when they said they would and went to work. They flushed my lines, showed me the camera as it was working in my pipes, including a blockage (where my line met the city line), and they flushed the iron build up). Both men were professional, personable and knowledgeable and, from a homeowner's perspective, very honest.

The entire experience shifted from being very stressful (e.g., pumping water out of my crawlspace late at night, anticipating huge costs, etc.,) to manageable due to the incredibly professional, knowledgeable, reliable and honest service provided by Drainrock Industries.

If you have water in your basement or crawlspace or dealing with significant drainage issues, call Drainrock first. This is what they do - from a simpler line flush or camera inspection to a more complex excavation and repair or replacement solution, you will have peace of mind knowing that you are getting excellent, skilled and honest service at a very fair price, and from good people with integrity (who know what they are doing). I could not be happier with the service received from Drainrock, during difficult and wet conditions. Thank you Bob, Rylan and Justin - you exceeded my expectations and I am genuinely grateful.

"Atmospheric rivers" is the drainage term of 2021!
In the 30 years that we have been servicing, repairing and replacing perimeter drainage, we have never seen this much precipitation and how impacting it has been. We understand the stress that comes with the unknown of water ingress, where does it come from, how do we fix it, and how much will it cost. Taking an educated approach by using municipal records, finding your storm sump, and an onsite visit all help us with becoming educated about your problem and providing a viable solution. We are very grateful for you taking the time to describe your experience and hopefully it will help others in understanding what they should expect, not just from Drainrock Industries, but from other drainage companies as well.

hydro flush and sump drainage

It was nice dealing with a business that is family owned and run. They treated my house like it was theirs. They answered all my questions and left me feeling confident in their work. They found an issue and dealt with it, alleviating a blockage that would have in the near future surely backed up and flooded my basement. Very professional!

Thank you for taking the time to share your recent experience with Drainrock Industries. I guess we could say that not all flushes are created equal. As our crew worked around your home servicing your perimeter drainage system, all was normal with iron oxide being removed and brought back to the sump. The outgoing line from the sump to the municipal connection was only 40' in length. A final water test after our service identified a blockage in the outgoing line on the municipal side that was 136' from the sump and under the road. The City of Coquitlam showed up promptly and worked with our crew to clear the blockage on their side and we video inspected for assurance. Sincerely, Drainrock Industries.
