The Mold Guy, Mold Detection & Removal

Leak and black mold outbreak in basement bathroom. Fortunately limited in scope. Checked Homestars per usual. Found The Mold Guy. The friendly and helpful Kay dispatched the fast and friendly Ross who did an expert assessment. No up-selling. Three-man crew led by Lucas followed up quickly and did the remediation. The team was polite, communicated well, finished early, and cleaned up after themselves carefully. Did what was necessary to confirm extent of problem and clearly remediated it. At $1900 with HST for the package, this isn't the cheapest mold service around. However, if I think about value for money, they delivered big-time. Highly recommended.

I called a number of "highly rated" companies on Homestars and most of them lack proper customer service skills. When I did finally call Kay at The Mold Guy, she genuinely sounded happy about doing her job, she was very knowledgeable answered all my questions all of which I am sure she heard about 40 times that day alone! Kay provided a quote over the phone and it was almost 30% cheaper than the top rated company on homestars. The guys came out when she said they would and they finished in less time than reported. They showed me before and after pictures they cleaned up afterwards and I was completely satisfied with the work done and would not hesitate to use them again and or recommend them to others. The owner Ross even emailed me after the job was completed to confirm I was happy with the service and sent me the pictures to keep for my record. Excellent Experience

We wanted to ensure there was no mold in the home we were planning to buy and found The Mold Guy on the Internet. They had great reviews and so called them to do an air quality testing. Kay who made a booking was very courteous and friendly. Ross came to do the actual testing. He is an expert in this field. He was very professional and took the time to explain the detail. He made us feel very comfortable in asking questions on what exactly he was doing. The cost included taking 3 samples for testing, however Ross went beyond and checked our attic to ensure there was no mold there. Even though this isn't their job, he took a walk around the property and advised us of what we should take care of, like re-caulking around the garage doors and basement windows, etc. Things that you don't really think of. I really appreciated that part. The report was sent to us in a week's time with all the details. Thankfully there is no mold in the property. Thank you Ross for your friendly and expert advise. I would not hesitate to recommend this company to anyone who requires air quality testing or mold detection in their homes.

There was quite a bit of mold under my linoleum floors in the basement.
When I called the mold guy, Kay was wonderful on the phone. She was very friendly and helpful.

Well worth the cost of the estimate. I was not forced into any work, in fact, Ross explained that my mold issues were superficial and I didn't need to expense the money on an overhaul. Ross is very polite and accurate with his feedback.

Our leaky roof led to mold growth that was discovered after the emergency response crews came and removed the affected areas of drywall. They then told us that we had to take care of the mold so that they could continue with the repairs.
After looking through many companies and getting wildly variable quotes, we chose to go with Mold Guys. Kay was very friendly and helpful over the phone and Ross was the only guy that did a thorough inspection of the problem, instead of pointing at areas with a laser and constantly saying "that's mold". The visit was not free (150$) but it had a rebate option, which you will get, because after Ross comes at your house, you will choose them on top of any other company. His approach was much more honest and proper than all the other people that came in the house (a total of 5). He took the time to look in close detail and sure enough the problem was not as big as other "experts" suggested (they just wanted more work/$$$).

The work was done over a couple of days and despite a small delay in getting the spore counts to a level that would make the repair contractors unable to claim inability to commence work, the service that the Mold Guy offered us was very good. They were always available to talk on the phone and very prompt on e-mail correspondence, addressing any issues that we had.

If someone asks me about mold issues, Mold Guy will definitely be my recommendation.

I was initially horrified to find mold growing on shoes and clothing in some closets and was in a state that would have been easy for Ross to exploit. Not only did he calm me down, but advised me not to spend more money than necessary and to trust in the remediation process. After remediation, the spore count is at a very low amount and Ross had me put in a couple dehumidifiers to keep the moisture level low enough to prevent future growth. Ross and Kay are both engaging, genuine, friendly people who inspire confidence and trust and who play by the rulebook. I've heard horrible things about some of their competition, in terms of commitment to service and concern for the client. Save yourself a headache and heartache and go with the Mold Guy. I guarantee you won't regret that decision. Thanks guys!

Knowledgeable, reliable, efficient, and available when you need them. After getting the run around from other companies, The Mold Guy had us booked and the units assessed within three days. They provided information regarding the concern and recommended remediation directly following the inspection. The quote was provided the next day, remediation booked in advance within two weeks of inspection and the price was better than other companies that quoted the job. Ross and Kay have been a pleasure to work with and are knowledgeable about working with condominiums. I highly recommend them and will use them again.
