We recently had our basement finished by Cobalt Developments. Greg came out and gave us a detailed quote of the job. There were no surprises from the quote he gave and the work was done on time and within quote. Greg is an incredibly personable guy who is well mannered and very respectful of your home. What I like the most about Greg is that he honestly seemed to want to make your basement as nice as you wanted to make it, and the quality of workmanship shows.

We found the job was exceptionally well planned with contractors showing up on time every time. All contractors that showed up were exceptionally well mannered and we had no problem having any of them in our home, many of them even played with our young children on their way to and from the basement.

Our basement was finished a few months ago so we have had some time to enjoy it now, and I can tell you the quality is second to none. The basement perfectly matches our upstairs and is very functional and meets 100% of our needs. I would highly recommend cobalt and will be using them in the future for all my renovation/basement needs.

We really loved that they provided a detailed calendar of the development and always finished each step on time, if not early. We had just bought this home, with recent upgrades in the main level, Cobalt perfectly matched the basement to the upstairs. Each worker was extremely polite and respectful of our home. Everyone involved was easy to contact and quick to respond with any questions we had. We will absolutely be using them again.

We decided to hire Cobalt for our basement development project and we couldn't be happier with our decision. When we were receiving quotes for the project, it was clear that Greg was on the same page with us for delivering the basement that we wanted. Other contractors we discussed the scope with tried to convince us that building around existing utilities would be the best way to go even though in some places it would have resulted in very low bulkheads and some out of place walls. Greg on the other hand included everything in the quote how we wanted it and went through the quote thoroughly with us in our basement. This helped us visualize the finished project and be confident that we were signing up for the basement we wanted.

Throughout the construction process, Greg was great to work with as well. He was quick to respond to any of our questions or concerns. Additionally the main floor of our house was kept clean throughout the project and Greg was able to accommodate our request to keep access for both of our cars to the garage which was very appreciated. All of the tradesman were professional and delivered good quality work as well.

In the end, the project was delivered on budget and on the guaranteed 8 week schedule. So far we haven't had any issues and we are very happy with the finished product. I would definitely recommend Cobalt Development for any basement development project.

I'm surprised to see all of the glowing reviews since we had the opposite experience. The job was not planned well - trades were not scheduled in order (painters arrived before plaster was done, tiler showed up and the drywall wasn't complete and no countertops installed) things did not happen when they were supposed to (siding repair, painters, trim repairs), we were not informed what was happening (external work done to accommodate a window happened before we were notified - were told the structural modification would be done from the inside), quality does not come close to our main floor (stair railing and base trim in worse shape than our house that we've been living in with a toddler for 4 years, plaster, paint, and caulking is amateurish) and trades did not keep the area clean or respect our home (furnace was not "zipped in" with plastic as we were told it would be, plaster was dripped on the hardwood and carpet on the main floor, elliptical and modem/tv equipment was not covered, main floor Nest thermostat was removed and thrown on the floor and scratched up, and it was not put back until the end of the job so we had no A/C on our main floor for the entire summer). To top it off, the job went twice as long as we were quoted - 15 weeks vs 8. We were constantly bringing things to Gregs attention and were made feel like we were being unreasonable and only got satisfaction when we really pushed. Extremely dissatisfied with the experience and the quality of the finished product.

Our experience with Cobalt Developments was nothing short of exemplary. When we finally decided to get our basement developed last fall we contacted five companies for quotes (yes, I’m that guy with the spreadsheet to analyze everything). Although the estimates for the majority of them were similar, the detail and attention of each were quite different. Cobalt was the only one who not only called back with a quote, but actually wanted to come back to the house with a plan drawing and detailed estimate. After that our impression was that Cobalt was a company who knew what they were doing and wanted to earn our business.

Throughout the entire process the trades were professional and friendly and the workmanship was great. As promised, our basement was completed within 8 weeks (and right before Christmas).

The owner, Greg, was always attentive and very patient with the endless questions and comments we had along the way.

It’s been over half a year since turnover and we haven’t had to call them back for single issue.

In late 2015 I had Cobalt development renovated my unfinished basement. The basement is not large and the house is only six years old. Everything was pretty much done on time (~8 weeks), no surprises, quality looks great, and within the quote.

Maybe not in this economy, but I heard enough stories about how some general contractors went over budget or finish the renovation job half way leaving for another higher pay job, even those recommended by friends. So I decided to let Google do the searchings. I picked three companies to further research and one of them is Cobalt Development. Initially, I was a bit worry because there is not much online review on Cobalt.

While the other two companies quotes were reasonable, they both focused a lot on pricing with the inexpensive material from the start. I did not feel they put much effort selling me why I should pick them. Only the guys from Cobalt were engaging and explained their quotes to me in detail. In fact, they actively worked with me on the basement layout even I have not hired them officially.

Lastly, other the hassle of clearing out the basement, the renovation process was pretty much *hassle free*. The owner of Cobalt Greg was easy to work with and he took care of every issue. I can't compare Cobalt with the others simply because I only have one basement to be renovated. However, because of my positive experience, I would highly recommend Cobalt Development for basement renovation.

Cobalt exceeded our expectations in all areas. We absolutely love our basement and from our very first meeting we were impressed by Greg's demeanour, his knowledge and his ability to provide his own vision and new concepts. While we had a clear idea of what we thought we wanted for our design, Greg was able to present other options for the use of our space that other contractors had not, which we ultimately chose for our basement. The process went fairly smoothly and was indeed finished on time despite my skepticism. Greg checked on the work frequently and was always responsive to questions, concerns and any little changes we wanted to make. Any issues that came up were quickly fixed with no problem. All of his contractors were polite, friendly and easy to work with. We are very happy with the final product and would highly recommend Cobalt Developments to others.
