We needed to re-shingle the roof and contacted J. Stewart Roofing Ltd. via reputation. John was very personable and reasonable to deal with through the assessment/quote process.

John took photos of the existing roof and pointed out where the issues where and shared them with me. We were looking for a more durable and longer lasting shingle than what we had. John offered an option that we liked and his crew had been certified by the manufacturer to install the roofing materials--which meant better warranty protection for me.

John and I communicated mainly through email and that process worked well for answering questions and scheduling the job. We had leeway, but a definite time window that we wanted to work with. John was able to accommodate our project within that window, even with the unseasonably wet spring that we had this year.

John's crew showed up on time and was very professional, friendly and task-focused. They did a nice job. John took care of some specialty work to protect a chimney area from becoming a potential leak problem. The crew cleaned up every speck once the job was complete. John came by and did a qc check and took after photos, which he shared with us.

If you are looking for a quality roofing solution and a reasonable contractor and crew to deal with, then seriously consider J. Stewart Roofing. Up-front, John may not be the cheapest roofer around, but in the long run, it will be money in bank for you if you choose him.

John and his team replaced our room and did a great job. They started when they said they would and got the job done right. The place was brooms swept and tidy when they left. I would highly recommend them.

John came in the late fall, did a very thorough inspection of our roof, and advised exactly what needed to be done, and also told us it could wait until the spring. In the spring, he showed up to make sure the crew had a good understanding of what needed to be done. Crew was efficient and courteous, finished on time and left absolutely no mess. John returned to inspect and take pictures of the new roof to show me. Excellent service, on time, on budget. Very easy to deal with.

I was referred to them by a work colleague who was happy with the work they did on his roof, so I requested a quote and within a couple of days John had inspected and taken photos of our roof and followed up with a quote and list of work to be completed.

I called John and he promptly got back to me. He answered all of my questions and sent me photos of comparable roofing projects that were helpful in understanding the scope of the work to be done. John also dropped off shingle samples to our front door upon request to help with shingle selection.

I signed off on the quote and a crew was scheduled to show up a few weeks later (note that weather makes scheduling an exact date in advance not possible). John contacted me a couple days before the project started to notify me work was about to begin. John advised the job would take under two days. The crew and bin showed up on a Wednesday morning and the job was done/the place cleaned/bin removed by the time I got home from work on Thursday evening. Crew was friendly and all business.

The final invoiced amount was as quoted. John completed a post job inspection and sent us photos of the job in progress and the completed roof.

John and his crew replaced our roof expertly and we have only good things to say about the work. He's already worked on 3 other roofs on our street and it really was the excellent feedback from the neighbours that made our choice for us. His quote was very thorough with pictures of the roof from all angles and clear explanations. (All very important when as a homeowner, you aren't able to see the roof from the ground.)They protected my property so I wasn't cleaning up extensively afterwards. And the new roof was on in a day, 1/2 a day earlier than expected. The whole process from initial quote to final invoice was made that much smoother too, by Renai who handled scheduling and payment. Thanks to John & crew, we have a new roof that we don't have to second guess.

2018's Ice storm caused a leak in my Toronto Semi's roof. John's team came by recommendation from a neighbour who had their roof reshingled in 2017. This was just prior to the crazy windstorm that we had this year and I was fortunate to line up John and his team. By the weekend, they had come over to tarp the damaged roof.

Team was professional, fast and clean. You wouldn't even know that they were there outside of the new roof. John even came buy to search for nails that left on the driveway. I would recommend them again.

This is five years overdue, but a recent followup service impressed me so much that a review finally had to be written. The company who did our skylights five years ago recommended John and his team to replace our old roof at the same time. The quality of J Stewart Roofing's work and service were great and we were happy with the roof. We had no complaints over the last five years, but one of the windstorms this year tore off a few pieces of shingle. We followed up with John, who's team came right away to make the repairs. We subsequently contacted the manufacturer of the shingles to make a claim on the repair costs, since the damage from the windstorm fell under their warranty, but the manufacturer had a laundry list of requirements that would have been challenging to meet in order to process my claim. I contacted John about this, and right away, he took matters into his own hands and followed up with the manufacturer himself. Within a week or two, he sorted everything out for us and we received a check to reimburse us for the repair costs. I was girding myself for a protracted headache with the shingle manufacturer and John made everything painless. I highly recommend J Stewart Roofing for both the quality of their work, but more importantly, for their incredible service. Email replies were always prompt, and John proactively kept me updated with his progress with the shingle manufacturer.

The roof on my bungalow in East York needed to be replaced, so I called J Stewart Roofing on a recommendation from a friend. John called me back right away to schedule a visit for a quote. John had prepared a very detailed quote including photos from up on the existing roof indicating problem areas. He also sent me proof of WSIB coverage and the certificate of his business insurance, without me even having to ask for it! Upon my authorizing the quote, John promptly set up a time frame for the job, and actually ended up fitting it in sooner than expected. John's wife Renai was very helpful in helping me pick a shingle colour, as well as delivering samples to me. The job was completed on time and everything was cleaned up afterwards. I have an attached sunroom which leaked and needed a different roofing treatment to tie it into the house, John and his crew did an exceptional job to fix it using a proper waterproof membrane brought up under the new shingles on the house. J Stewart roofing is a great family business , I would not hesitate to refer them on to others in need of roofing work.
